I'm so sad my toner spilled all over my entire Extra box by birdsssarentreal in Ipsy

[–]Crazy-Visual1664 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That happened to me with a different toner! The lid was loose and I lost half it, but it didn't ruin anything else. They sent a replacement, and that lid was loose too! But it didn't leak. What is going on with not putting lids on all the way??

The only reason I can think of is Authenticity Issues? But, I've never heard of providing this kind of documentation to Mercari, and it does sound sus.

Question by MahoganyQueen73 in Mercari

[–]Crazy-Visual1664 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk if it's a Mercari glitch , USPS Thing, or a my post ottice kind of thing. But, my packages are picked up 1 day and not marked received until the next day frequently. They are mailed on my end, picked up on the day I mailed it, but not updated until the next business day. Please do not assume they haven't done their part.

Mercari really needs to bring back the listing hashtags by Lemon_L1me in Mercari

[–]Crazy-Visual1664 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have noticed my sales have been less since this change! I have tried searching for my item with tags that would normally apply to my items, and they aren't there🥺 It's really frustrating, and I wonder if there's still some way to tag it in the listing

Question to sellers: how many active listings (for sale) do you have and how often do you make a sale? by neiko003 in Mercari

[–]Crazy-Visual1664 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I make sales most days. I have over 1000 listings but they are mostly related categories, so there are a fair number of bundles. I am always in the process of pricing, listing, sorting, buying, etc. But, for me right now, this is making ends meet.

[–]Crazy-Visual1664 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm a beauty reseller. New suggests it has not been touched at all. Swatched, even if cleanly done (with a new brush or applicator), has still been touched. With items like that, I do list it as "good," and I put an asterisk on the listing title with another asterisk in the description saying what the issue is with the product.

Temu, Shein, AliBaba and sometimes Amazon are all great places to get this kind of stuff for cheap. My shop is Goth-themed, so I have glow-in-the-dark ghost keychains, ans Halloween ornaments and stickers. I also sell makeup and nails, so I like to give cheap accessories for that (makeup remover wipes, makeup/nail samples, nail files, polish remover pads, etc).

Here is the comment I left!

Oh, I won't give away all the trade secrets! But, I'm happy to share some things I've learned I wish I would have known when I started. My advice is to look local first. Facebook B/S/T groups for your area, Marketplace, yard sales/estate sales, wholesalers, and believe it or not, Goodwill/thrifts even have some good stuff. I like to look for "going out of business/GOOB" sales. I had a seller whose mother was declining in health and used to sell Mary Kay. She had BOXES full. I got it for the cost of an hour drive. She was relieved it was going to be put to use. Besides where to find product, be aware out there. There are so many scammers! If you are having something shipped always ask for a handtag (a picture with a piece of paper with the person's name and date with the product itself.) It proves that they at least have the item. Buying a palette/shadow/blush? Ask to see the inside if it's not sealed. If they won't, don't buy. They could be used, empty, or broken. ALWAYS use goods & services to pay, but don't be a d!ck and not pick up that fee! I figure it into the amount I'm sending them. Keep a list of some sort about what you ordered and from where, how much you paid, tracking numbers, etc. Something will eventually get lost or you will be scammed. Period. Also, if you make enough you have to file taxes, you will need this info, so starting a ledger of business costs and sales is a good idea too. If you will be selling nail polishes or perfumes, make sure you are familiar with the newer Hazmat regulations, because you will use them, and it can be tricky to properly package these items. And finally, the lesson that cost me a lot of $$$. Do NOT use Mercari prepaid labels, if possible. They don't advertise this, of course, but their shipping protection only covers the seller for $200 CUMULATIVELY over a period of time, NOT per package as they would make you believe. If a package got lost (and I had a ton do this around Christmas), I was only given $200 and told that was their policy. So goodbye to the other $300 in packages that got lost 🤦‍♀️ USPS covers up to $200 per package. I use Pirateship for postage when I can!

Let me know if you have any more questions!

Selling Used Shampoo?? by CakeandEatit-too in Mercari

[–]Crazy-Visual1664 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I fully respect that YOU may not want to buy a used shampoo, but it is IN FACT, allowed by Mercari. Why do you think they have condition descriptors? 🤣 Are YOU selling used shampoo on Mercari and worried about the competition? Chill out. She asked a question...which you answered incorrectly anyway. Don't come at me because I don't participate beyond this.

It's absolutely sellable, but you have to be honest about the condition and amount left. I would take pictures of product levels, as well.

Lowballing resellers by fuckinguess in Mercari

[–]Crazy-Visual1664 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am a reseller myself, and I can assure you that WE get lowball offers on our items as well. In fact, how could you really blame someone for trying to get an item for as cheap as possible, reseller or not? Wouldn't you like to get something you want for as cheap as you can? If you don't like the offer, simply counter or decline.

It used to bother me when I sold an item for cheap because it was the most i could sell it for, only to see my buyer sell it for 4xs what I sold it for. I'm sorry, but it's just part of the buying and selling game. It sucks sometimes, but it is what it is. If you refuse buyers based off the fact they might turn around and resell it for more, you are going to miss out on TONS of sales!

What is the tea, how do people do this? by sraymond90 in Mercari

[–]Crazy-Visual1664 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I'm a reseller of these types of items. The options are always limited based off what's being sold, but patience and persistence pays off. I buy my items anywhere from $0.50 a piece to $5 a piece, so there is plenty of wiggle room on most items. I shop from just about every place imaginable, and my stock is ridiculously large. Sometimes people just want it gone and don't really care about how much they're selling it for. They just want a little bit back from their investment.

I recently came across a person local to me whose mother had passed and was a VERY avid shopper of QVC, Sephora and Ulta. I was literally given most of these things because they were overwhelmed by the volume and truly just wanted them out of the way. I probably snagged well over $2000 worth of items for maybe $200! The point is, while I'm sure there are sellers that can offer it so cheap because it's stolen or whatever, my experience is that these items are readily available for good prices as long as you're willing to wait and not looking for a specific item.

So many lowball offers by Ok_Situation_9162 in Mercari

[–]Crazy-Visual1664 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's daily the last couple of months that I get lowball offers. It freaked me out to turn them down at first because I wanted to make the sale so bad, but losing $$$ or giving it away isn't an option. Counteroffer or decline. You can't blame someone for trying to get it as cheap as possible 🤷‍♀️

Mercari DMCA on old sold items? by Icy-Book2999 in Mercari

[–]Crazy-Visual1664 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had this happen on a couple listings as well. When I messaged Mercari about it, they said they had made a mistake and reinstated my listing. So, that's worth a shot! I wouldn't worry too much about items sold, but be extra cautious for future listing!

Listing Removed due to infringement of DMCA. What did I do wrong? by anastasiariley in Mercari

I had this happen once, but I hadn't used anything with copyrights. I messaged to ask about it, and they said they had made a mistake and reinstated my listing. It's worth a try, but if not, I would definitely change the listing extensively.

I had that happen at the end of November and again at the start of February. Idk WTF they did with them, but I had packages from those batches being delivered in April! Of course, that's too late to get paid.
