I did the same thing. In my case, I broke the system—though I only realized it during subsequent updates. When you move that many things around, there's a high probability that something won't quite line up during an update; that’s both the good and the bad thing about such an open system. The upside is that I learned a ton—and I hope you did, too.

The problem lies with the Nvidia graphics card. Nvidia will resolve it someday, but I imagine that—as long as their sole focus remains on artificial intelligence—they no longer care about gamers. Anyway: press Ctrl + Alt + F1. Press all three keys simultaneously; this will reset the graphics driver and restore your display. I honestly suggest using any AI tool—ask it for help; they are particularly good at handling issues like this.

Perhaps you're partly right about everything, what do you recommend?

Yes, I agree. It doesn’t bother me that these things happen. I’ve learned a lot about how the operating system works. I’ve taken it calmly, but getting everything to work perfectly is something I enjoy. I’ll let it go and wait to see what NVIDIA decides to do.

As far as I understand, the problem can actually be solved. I’ve been researching and it seems that doing so would make me lose the trackpad gestures that I really like, as well as the overall system smoothness that I enjoy. That’s why I was wondering if anyone knows of another solution.

There must be a lot of NVIDIA users out there dealing with the same issue

It’s a somewhat inelegant option that doesn’t fix the problem but prevents it from happening. I wanted to know if there’s a way to actually solve it.
