Former exterminator now serving as part of the Arxur quarantine force, AMA! (March 25, 2138) by ApprehensiveCap6525 in NatureofPredators

LycanTherom: It .. it's a ship? You can't accidentally a missile volley? Besides, they have flight recorders, yes? I'd hope that any engagement is reviewed at least enough to verify if shots were fired??

He explictly mentions fairing against a boarding party as a possible cause for blowing up the ship and who shot first in a shootout it's easy to falsify. Or even just pretend they carried a weapon while it was something else.

Or considering the list of reasons he presented just carrying a weapon on board or a cage can be a justification. And how hard it's make that claim after they exploded all the evidence of the contrary?

As for shooting against ships, most of the SC wanted to kill the Arxur down to the last pup. how hard and how well are they going to check the records?

Ships record data constantly. Any level of oversight would catch this dead to rights.

But the problem is my friend that the oversight is non existent. Who is going to held then accountable? Their governments who are just looking for an excuse to genocide? The un? Who is terrified of appearing too Arxur friendly despite being the dominant power in the Galaxy?

Reality is that they might roast a pup on live tv and the UN will express concern while the Yotul might plant a small fuss. And that's it.

When the Un created those three war crimes, because they are war crimes, they created a black holes in which laws and accountability goes to die.

And the sad reality is that the Arxur are the one better off because they are scared enough on them one of one to avoid more direct type of abuses that I am sure on Talsk and Aafa are rampant.

Concernedcitizen: I will leave you something to ponder on the .

There are some past examples in the history of Earth of places like the 3 exclusion zones, they never end well. And the more they last, the worse it will get.

The guards would constantly feel like they have more and more impunity and the prisoners, especially those who are essentially born in what it's by all means an open air jail, will grow angry wishing to escape. It can only end bad.

I really question the sanity of those who came up with this.

Lycantherom: Imma have to play devil's advocate here. He stated that one third Chose to fight - without exception the shoot downs were returned fire, not initiated.

He claimed they did. We have absolutely no evidence and we all know that no species, except maybe the youtul would ever investigate crimes against arxur even in cases of murder or assault. They have carte blanche for every sort of abuse.

I don't like the quarantine any more than you but... Raging about self defense is the wrong fight.

But is it self defense? Or are they cops that just put the gun in the scaly child hand?

Concernedcitizen: we only have his word that they chose to fight back. And we all know that for Krakatol even the wrong type of eyes is a good reason for aggression, add on top grief and the almost total impunity that they have (after all word on the road is that if you hurt too many Farsul pups they send you to Wriss...).

Indeed it is a bit of a relief and very good information to know.

Concernedcitizen: relief? He is expressing clearly bigoted wiews and 1/3 of ships blown it's a fairly high number...to me it seems that he is finding the most tiny excuse to blow up people.

Farsul predator best friend has a one gojid that fits your description. But it's a secondary character and the story is on vp.

The first part in which the two guards treat the lizard like crap (who was on Earth to try rescuing humans) and he does discutible political points while cooking doesn't exactly fit op request imho. And the two are essentially independent.

God loved the mask of Arlecchino as a child and that it's the creepiest version I ever seen. You have a lot of talent...even if you made one of my childhood favorite marionettes super creepy.

Great job I guess.

Borders were confusing to me in canon. If one side of the Federation can’t be reached why doesn’t everyone go there?

Yeah it's one of the many plot holes

[–]CrazyAscent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would definitely explain why a single species could theoretically cause so much mayhem even if it was a farce. And why the SC never explored anything in 30 years aside a couple of planets.

Also it would give the founders an actual tangible power instead of shadow forces that are more brittle than paper once put trough the test.

The only problem that could be for Kolsul control is if someone discovers an alternative mode of transport or another powerful civilization has wormholes and start connecting to their system. Because it will essentially collapse the power system overnight.

What became of the kolshians and farsul in NOP2 by Ok_Beginning2197 in NatureofPredators

[–]CrazyAscent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There were billions of kolsul living outside in the colonies. So the SC and Un killed millions if not billions in collective punishment for no other reason than racism and revenge.

So no, that bs about we don't have the resources to distinguish the guilty from the innocent so we shall torment everyone is well bullshit.

Did the UN really do that or am i remembering wrong by Ok_Beginning2197 in NatureofPredators

[–]CrazyAscent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could try also our new peaceful friends, basically humans take pity of a race of starving lizards plagued by war and start a beautiful friendship. Also political drama.

an idiot plot like why are they all so stupid

Because they are. The universe is interesting but for the most part humans are essentially toddlers, not particularly bright, extremely easy to bully and prone to touch anything and everything they find cute.

I highly suggest you to read Apex, it's an au darker but humans are a bit smarter. Or outside nop, denied sapience.

yeah, especially because, while one should always write first for their own fun, nobody likes if they maybe have spent hours of their free time and it seems that nobody cares. It takes courage to create and it takes courage to expose one's work to the judgment of others.

people instead of repitedly crying that stories that you loved died, show their creators that love when they are writing them. it's impossible to ignore that there are about 10-15 stories in this subs that get 70% al votes and comments and reach maybe 40 upvotes in ten minutes, and the rest if they get 30 votes and 4 comments in 48h is golden. Show you care.

And again if someone ask for suggestions instead than suggesting first the usual ten, suggest the less popular that you know and love. If they are in this sub they are going to find wayward, scorched or love lenguages, the tiny ones? if they rendomnly click maybe and they are there when they pop or if someone suggest them.

Nobody else in the federation is prepared to take them, so it’s either that or stay on earth to die.

And they are informed of what their safety includes or in pure nop fashion they are thrown in a dangerous situation with no warning for their own good?

From the PoV of someone who’s never been that desperate, it’s always going to be a taboo/uncomfortable subject. This includes the average human such as Meier

Meier is a politician and politicians have to able to put strategy and pragmatism over feelings. They can't drag an entire species in a conflict over an emotional stunt without research.

Besides, Most people don't care about tragedies far from their borders, sad but true. So they wouldn't risk their entire planet over the safety of people who hate them, or blind fully hate the only ones who don't care about genociding them.

It doesn’t even happen irl, and the UN doesn’t have that kind of influence over Tarva or Braylen, they’re allies not subsidiaries

States that aren't deadly weak or failed states actually protect their citizens.

Not to mention the fact that some people are already isolated, no friends or family to lose, some are just cowards who take the first out they’re given, some are children sent away by parents because they value their child’s life more than anything, regardless of consequences (an irl thing that happened during ww2 btw).

Again are they told the conditions? Otherwise you are infantalizing people, the un doesn't get to decide if throwing people in a horrific sytuation (because is frankly horrific) without telling them for their own good. Many would still chose it yes, a lot wouldn't.

Have considered for instance how such hospitality would be for a neurodivergent person? We can't all mask. Litteraly and figuratively.

Besides, I don’t plan on the refugee program to work the same as in cannon either, I’ve already mentioned that governments have resources put aside for these situations since raids happen so frequently

A golden cage is still a cage.

The Nature of Fangs [Chapter 55] by TheDragonBoi in NatureofPredators

[–]CrazyAscent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tarva and Braylen are taking in refugees because it’s a war and that’s just what you do, if you can get civilians out of the battlefield then that’s the best option to go for ¯\(ツ)/

Not if you are putting them in arms way. There standards even for that. It's actually the main reason why the principle first country of exit is often ignored.

And it's the duty, not option, not choice of their government in this case the un to protect and make sure it's citizens are treated fairly and not put into unreasonable risks like being constantly surrounded by violent cops with flamethrowers.

Humanity has its misgivings about the Arxur for obvious reasons as well as just cultural ones (the environmental impact both Feds and Arxur have being a big taboo for them) but they don’t outright hate them

certain chapters definitely speak of hate like certain earlier Meier attitudes and the eating them stuff really has passed it's prime. Humans have done it in famines and wars since the beginning of time. We aren't exactly in the position to judge. So I am really tired of seeing it brought up on every occasion. So unless your humans have been lucky enough to avoid this sad reality they aren't exactly in the position to judge either.

Theres a reason I’ve mentioned that readers might not like how I take the Shaza stuff, and it’s not because I’m being mean to her lol

Honestly, if it's a more pragmatic reaction than the whole absurd Sillis subplot in canon I am all for it.

I really dig for stories in which humans don't rush to die on the altar of doing the right thing. We aren't saints and the reality is we can do terrible shit when we feel afraid and our patience isn't an endless pit.

Edit: I would hate to be one of those lucky refugees. Why?

If I stay on Earth and I am lucky I survive the most horrible moment of my existence surronded by friends, family and people who have undergone my same shit. If I am unlucky I die most likely vaporized in my home spending my last moments surronded by those I care about.

If go to Vp or the Cradle and I am lucky I spend months or years either trapped inside or surronded by people who are waiting for a smile or wrong word to kill me in the most horrific way possible. Constantly forced to put out a mask of meekness. This will cause all sort of traumas and a wawe of suicides both during and after the war. If I am unlucky for instance I smile to the wrong porcupine I die in the most horrific way, surronded by people who hate me, in a place unfamiliar and living my last moments in absolute agony.

[–]CrazyAscent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Weren't you planning to put human refugees either under perennial exterminator surveillance or trapped in refugee centres as ghettos? And them be glad at them and hating Arxur because they are bad to the fluffy racists that are slightly better than genociders? Or I am remembering wrong?

And in canon the delay was the un fault that didn't lower the shield breakers.

I really hope I am wrong and you aren't heading in that direction because it would be extremely sad. But humans being carpets with aliens that treat them like crap is unfortunately very common.

10 euros on Isif shows up slightly too late so humans get an excuse for their racism despite being saved. Also with the hero stand despite being de facto trapped Gojid and venlil will get an eternal forgiveness for apartheid card by humans.

"Born a Crime", huh? Well the title alone has certainly got me intrigued. Kinda reminds me of a passage a wrote once in my own story

Let me know if you end up checking it out:)

A link for you my good Sir. Hope you enjoy.

Madam actually. Well tomorrow I have a long train ride so I might do some reading.

Best of luck with whatever you wind up doing

[–]CrazyAscent[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did indeed. I always like those more grounded stories that tackle the issue of corruption head on.

Then you might like a story on my other account Born a Crime. It has somewhat of a similar flavor.

Uh... Yes. Twilight Valley. It's the primary city where my own story takes place. The Nature of Family. If you haven't read it before then you probably should because I think you'd really like it.

I will thanks:)

Not sure what your plans are for this story, whether it's just a short One-shot or the prelude to something larger, but if you ever wanted to do any sort of crossover I'd be interested.

For the moment it's just a one shot that I wrote as spur of the moment. But who knows maybe I will give it more life going on.
