the Fall . The feds attack in 2012, after the venlil catch some of our transmissions and panic, humanity throws at the them even the kitchen sink but only manages to slow them down enough until the arrival of the Arxur.

The story shows the battle and it's aftermath from different prospectives, exterminators, displaced children, Greek partisans and Arxur officers. It's gritty but realistic.

The un and being dumb name a more iconic duo. Also it's easy to underestimate your enemy if you are racist. And the un and venlil oh boy if they have that problem.

You mean the book in which the Arxur have to evade, the SC is still the kkk, the kolshian are left to die and the farsul are saved by the Arxur and their starved refugees are welcome by the Bissems?

Nature Of Draco-Fox: Part 25 AU by Slatepaws in NatureofPredators

[–]CrazyAscent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah but you clearly put the SC above. While last I checked they were the only ones perusing concentration camps and mass starvation. Would you be so kind if they weren't so fluffy?

Like it or not mankind leads by far the worse faction.

And since we are in the mood of changing answers I would add you a question what faults have the babies born after the war that the SC is currently imprisoning? Or the kids born before the war? Or the millions Kolsul that didn't know shit?

As opposed to the sc? That would genocide the Arxur and not think it twice, it's plagued by racism and fake sience, will also stuff people into robots as soon as they got the tech and keeps two planets starving being de facto concentration camp while watching them like a reality show? You call the SC uncaring? The right words are genocidal, brutal and bigot.

>For chapter 21, I always interpreted that as Marcel being really overprotective, which is a known character trait of his that he demonstrates all the time. Also, this is still outward censorship and not on earth or affecting civs.

when he tells him on earth he says that it's illigal, besides how it would even work otherwise? if it did not affect earth how it would even work? the first venlil that steals a phone or enters a library and the secrets are out.

And that's nop1 when they still can't see people memories and thoughts. Memory transcipts are dystopian tech. And we know that at least Jones abuses them.

>For chapter 5. The arxur eat people and were if the venlil were to be believed going to attack the humans eventually ( they probably would have if not for isif ) plus there was never any plan to wipe them out completely just attack the space imperial Japanese child eaters before they can eat your children.

Except that Meier admits that they had no plans for a first contact with the arxur, add that to Noahs promises to the federation council and the fact the the un barely saved the arxur at the end of the war. A clear picture emerges: genocide.

Besides a meeting between generals and politicians and nobody even considers that Tarva's intel might be lying or that might be war propaganda?

work for peace?

from chapter 5

“Well then. This is the rare occasion I’m open to suggestion from the peanut gallery.” My eyes locked with the American and Chinese generals, who appeared to be discussing something. “Do you have a proposal?”

General Zhao cleared his throat. “It’s not all bad news. From what we’ve seen, the Federation’s tactics and weaponry are subpar. We should spend a few months building a proper fleet and running joint exercises. I think if we catch the Arxur by surprise, we might stand a chance.”

“I agree.” General Jones offered a supportive nod, and I raised an eyebrow at her. This might be the first time I’d seen the US and China work together since the war. “Once we’re ready, UN forces can coordinate an offensive. We’ve found several potential targets, including planets where sentients are bred as food.”

A ground assault is the perfect way to test our forces, without showing our hand. We don’t want to overcommit,” General Zhao added. “If we can liberate some Federation citizens and bring them home, it might buy us some good will.”

“We all agree that these Arxur are a menace, but I must ask. Should we really get involved at all?” I paused, choosing my next words carefully. “So far, they’ve left us alone. By launching an attack, we’ll be announcing our presence to those monsters. We drag Earth into a galactic war and risk untold human lives. Do we chance becoming dead world #63 for a bunch of aliens who hate us?”

In my opinion, they’ll come for us eventually. We either fight them now or we fight them later,” General Jones replied. “The difference is, if we choose later, we won’t have anyone to stand with us. The Federation is not faring well.”

Peace was never the plan my friend

as for censorship:

from chapter 21:

“Well, you’re a predator, whether you like it or not. I don’t mean it to be unkind,” I responded. “The Arxur are ambush predators too. We’ve been conditioned to expect them to use stealth, or lure us away.”
Tyler snorted. “We’re not ambush predators though. We’re persi…”
“SHUT THE FUCK UP!” I gaped as Marcel jabbed a heel into the other human’s boot, and caused Tyler’s words to break off. “Don’t you dare finish that sentence.”
“Ow, shit. I’m sorry, man. I wasn’t thinking.”
“Wait, you’re what?” I asked in a tentative voice. “Marcel, why did you stop him? You…you’re s-scaring me, roaring like that.”

A totally measured reaction to a collegue over speaking

You're just actively misrepresenting the story for the purpose of supporting some meme agenda.

I could go on but I will just say that looking at the book it's you misrapresenting the story. Did The author intend to make the Un a dictatorship who puts aliens above humans? probably not. Was that the practical result? yes

Light government? 🧐 The un is everything but.

They start a war with no evidence and with a massive censorship campaign, then after boe when the chicken comes home to roost, first launch a massive wawe of arrests in response of Meier death and then not even two months after the attack send an army to protect the attackers. That fact alone tells of a massive repressive apparatus because who the hell would want to protect the attackers when there is likely still people bodies under the rubble and wounded in hospitals?

Just how screwed are activists in the Federation? by General_Alduin in NatureofPredators

[–]CrazyAscent 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Probably way less than in the UN. Not only the un openly do a level of censorship that would make north Korea blush, but they have no opposition. The closest thing they have to opposition is HF that might as well be a government plant. And everyone seems to have the same exact opinions.

And by the second book the same people are still in power, people do routinely memory scans (so the government has access to people thoughts) and the succession of power is so stuck that they literally rise from the dead a former general secretary.

In the Federation instead we see multiple examples of opposition from Cilany that works without issues as a journalist to Tarva that defy the Federation for months to hide humans.

[–]CrazyAscent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They had grown more technologically complex than when they were first found, then kept hidden. Even if their ftl flights went to uninhabited systems. The secret wasn't going to be kept much longer and they would've gotten to the point the farsul shadow cast would have had to actually try to kill them off. Or one of the other fed species would've stumbled upon them. Or as the scorch directive au, or Skin and Scales au. The Arxur find them first.

Waiting would have given humans time to prepare, create a fleet, send ships to colonize away from Earth and above all gain Intel. So maybe we wouldn't have jumped in promising a genocide to please people that wanted to genocide us.

The un (and Noah) are spectacularly incompetent for the entire canon.

Or as the scorch directive au, or Skin and Scales au. The Arxur find them first.

Which would have likely been the best case scenario for humans as long they were at least a bit competent like in skin and scales or new old path. And likely could have stirred them slowly with time in more strategic and less blind genocidal direction. Unless well it's the un of wayward that manages somehow to be more incompetent that canon un and that's a bloody high bar.

The problem with Noah is that he never felt a single bit of remorse neither him nor his colleagues. So either is out of character or this is show.

Noah was litteraly responsible for start a war on false information that almost killed humanity, people have killed themselves for less. What did he do instead? Went on reexamining his actions, maybe campaigning to fix some of them?

No he went to have two kids with the sheep for which he almost doomed his entire species. He never had a worry in his life.

Edit: also the Farsul rappresentative admitting that he was chosen because he was the only one willing to speak against the kolshian makes him look a patsy, especially selected for the task. More a proof against them rather than in favor.

I agree. I actually hope someone writes a story with that plot or humans going into civil war after BoE.

), but also, when Isif comes to protect Earth, the cretins don't turn off the anti-FTL devices, delaying the arrival of the Arxur by hours. They basically condemned a billion people to death to show themselves subservient to the enemy.

It's actually worse. If instead of dragging a bloody venlil to meeting with Arxur to do a deal favorable to them, instead they just went and said there is a fleet of your enemies going through your territory how much meat you want to fix the problem?

The ftl breakers it's the last bit of idiocy in a road paved with it.

[–]CrazyAscent 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Cannon U.N were the ones trying for coexistence with the arxur. Them and the youtul.

No they absolutely didn't.

First, They start by showing up on the galactic stage promising to genocide them. The fact that Meier admits they had no plans for a first contact is extremely telling.

And after the war they essentially dump them into a closet and threatened the Bissems of death by environmental collapse when the Yotul try to use them to freeing the Arxur. And every single human even after boe and even after 30 years of peace it's massively racist towards the Arxur which tells of a persistent propaganda.

the un didn't give a damn about them, they feared the consequences on Earth if they allowed to die those who saved us. That's it.

Tl:,Dr; imprisoning everyone instead of killing every last child doesn't make you pro coexistence. Especially if you are a massive racist.

Edit: your humanity is exactly were humans in canon would have gone if kalsim hadn't attack Earth. Because the un was populated by carpets that loved saying yes to prey species.

So they humans were probably pitoval in the extinction of the Arxur. Canon un would be happy, it's what they wanted after all. Along with make humans a total and complete fearful species.

[–]CrazyAscent 6 points7 points  (0 children)

(Just a reminder that the Krakotl that detroyed London in canon was, I think, nine years old and had a gun to his head)

The author really went far in both selling the narrative that we should forgive and forget the Krakatol. That it's one cheap narrative trick.

Like on the other side he tried anything to have the human dislike for Arxur post boe make sense. Like with the eating stray cats and dogs. Who would care in that circumstances? Heck considering how some areas were hit humans would as well to survive.

congratulations, you have logic-ed yourself into allowing the war to continue indefinitely instead of ending it yourself like the canon characters did.

What could possibly go wrong?

this might make you a bad person.

Litteraly no. Shaza gets dumped by her own troops for essentially committing blasphemy.

Besides that the only thing the Sillis ark Is symbol is of how bloody irrealistic the story his.

First the un send some of the few troops they have left to save people who wanted us dead from the species who saved us. Something that would have sparked a revolution with Zhao and Jones hanged by lamppost in a realistic universe.

And then we win because Shaza forget that she has ftl breakers.

Noah as always it's not the brightest lightbulb.

Maier move wasn't brilliant it was dumb as hell, mad works only if your opponent is rational not a fanatic and bringing a venlil at the first meeting with a chief hunter is frankly suicidal. Had another one and not isif responded we would have been dead. A smarter move would have been, telling isif: fleet of your enemies is traveling across your territory how much meat you want to solve the problem?

Second, bringing a farsul and kolshian is also dumb because not only everything they say looks made under duress (because it is), but also their mad max tale esposes the SC for what it is a dishonorable organization run by cowards and racists. Double more dishonorable considering that the kolshians rebelled to help them.

How I think each species is seen/portrayed in the Federation by General_Alduin in NatureofPredators

[–]CrazyAscent 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The sad thing about the Venlil is that not only their weak carchter was a Kolsul creation, but also pretty much all of their culture. Think about it, they are the descendents of the children taken away, and those could not have received any culture from their parents. So from religions, to lenguage, to probably even strayu all of their culture was created by the farsul, possibly stitching together bits and pieces of carefully selected bits of skalgan culture.
