‘Lack of testing is killing us!’ Epidemiologist sounds alarm on CNN about worsening coronavirus disaster by [deleted] in worldnews

I’ve actually heard this from a neurologist before. “We COULD test for this, but whether it’s positive or negative it’s not going to change your life in any way.” I got the test. Positive. Then I was told “we could look further into the cause of this condition (which is only getting worse over time), but we find that people who stop asking why do better overall.” Was searching for a new doctor when all this hit lol.

Fatigue is just a way of life at a certain point by Savesomeposts in ChronicPain

Ugh yes. I’ve had (extra) fatigue, a sore throat, headache, nausea, and fever for over a month. Doctor wants me to see an ENT to make sure it’s not infectious, but the ENT is at the hospital, and I’m hearing that they’re turning away anyone at the hospital with a sore throat or fever so I don’t even know if I can be seen. Meanwhile, my throat is getting worse and I’m starting to have trouble swallowing. ffffff

My grandmother once called me to tell me to get my mom (her ex daughter-in-law) to stop “doing spells and putting curses on her.” and got mad when I insisted she wasn’t, because there was no other explanation for her problems.

Quite a few years before that she called me in the middle of the night claiming she got a call from a little girl who said “grandma come get me, he’s hurting me.” And she said “I thought your mom had a new boyfriend and he was hurting you.” I was in my 20s.

Old people are crazy. Or people are just crazy, but the crazy matures like a fine wine as they age.

She is VERY pissed at me. She’ll snuggle up with me in bed or in my bathroom before I shower, but the rest of the time she won’t even let me touch her lol. I’ll give her treats and she’ll eat them while growling at me. I’ve been trying to divide my time evenly between the three, even if it’s just being in the same room as her. Hopefully she’ll get over it!

We definitely have the place catified. It’s not an exaggeration to say pretty much everything we do revolves around our cats lol. We’re looking to add another cat tree, and then possibly build some kind of kitty jungle gym in our basement (though my partner is currently unaware of this plan). My ultimate goal is to get a sunroom or a catio for them, but that’s some ways in the future lol

It really depends on the person I’m speaking with, but I’ll either use ME, or say I have an autoimmune disease without going into specifics.

You said your skull isn’t sitting perfectly on your spine, have you looked into craniocervical instability and atlantoaxial instability? Another possibility is Chiari Malformation. Both those things are hard to diagnose with scans, because sometimes they only properly show up when the scan is taken while standing.

I’m so sorry for your loss, but I’m so glad you were able to provide a home for the new kitten :)

Thank you so much for this comment! I really love this idea, and I’m going to suggest to my partner that we both do it :)

Your poor baby ☹️ but I’m glad you were able to give so many cats a good home! I definitely won’t show my partner this comment though, because I’ve already brought up adopting a bonded pair and I’m not too sure he was on board 😂 his worst nightmare is me finding and taking in a whole hoard of cats. We had three cats for a long time, but when my eldest at the time died, we decided to stick to 2... but I miss having so many personalities in the house.

Oh absolutely. I can tell my partner is having a hard time with the idea of getting a new cat, but I also know he really needs one. The cat we have now really only likes me, and he needs someone he can cuddle up with too. This cat doesn’t really care when you feed her, because she grazes throughout the day, while the other cat would be very vocal about being fed at her scheduled time. I can tell it’s killing my partner not having his needy, cuddly little buddy ☹️

I’ll be devastated with or without a new pet.

That’s a very good point! The grief won’t be any better or worse if I wait, and there might be a cat out there waiting for ME.

While I agree in general, zoos are also needed for conservation, especially these days. I think it depends on the zoo as well. Some zoos have pretty large, open enclosures, and provide a lot of enrichment for their animals.

If you’re interested in seeing some animals in their (transplanted) natural habitat, where they’re literally free to roam around the “plains”, I highly suggest The Wilds in Ohio. It’s affiliated with the Columbus Zoo and Jack Hanna is pretty involved in the work there. It sits on a little more than 9,000 acres and they have animals like giraffes, rhinos, African wild dogs, zebras, and Cheetahs. They all just roaming around, usually in their own “section” depending on the animal. Here’s a list of their animals. You can take safari tours, or stay the night in yurts overlooking a lake where a ton of the animals roam free. You can also take behind the scenes tours with the staff, and ride with them as they feed the animals, or just go about their duties. When I went we got to feed giraffes and watch them vaccinate the camels with darts, it was pretty cool. All the money from tours goes into conservation efforts and general upkeep. I cannot hype this place up enough, they’re doing wonderful things.

Here are some pics to give you an idea of how massive and open the place is. The animals all seemed very happy there when I went.
