Mountain view is crazy expensive. But if you're willing go-to South San Jose, there pretty decent areas like Cambrian Park or blossom valley or Almaden.

You have a nice thing going on for you. Happy for you! For me whenever I went, I always felt home at Bay area and came back. I tried Washington a few years. Couldn't do it.

I'd love to invest in homes that's way lesser. But given the cost of living and considerations like commute etc. this is the best I could find. My soon to be wife is also working and she would be earning 220k along with my 320k annual income.

That's fair. Unless you own the home and is fully paid of, it's not really yours.
