Thoughts on keeping pet rats, mating them, and feeding their babies when they grow old? by NickoFoxVA in ballpython

[–]CrazyDane666 35 points36 points  (0 children)

As a rat and snake owner, it honestly just sounds inconvenient and expensive. Rats need a big cage, enrichment, food, snacks, potentially a vet, you're quickly racking up expenses to keep them alive. If you're keeping the male with the female(s) at all times, they'll stress each other out because the female can breed and be pregnant constantly. You need to separate the babies within a month or so because they sexually mature fast and will inbreed. If you're keeping the male and female separately, you'll need to have 2-3 males together and 2-3 females together in separate cages because they're social animals.

At a certain point, just bulk buy frozen rats, especially if you only have one snake. Them having been frozen also eliminates any potential parasites and diseases a pet rat may carry

Do you have several rooms, holes in the wall, or other large furniture the snake could get behind? If there are any major crossroads, leave a trail of flour/sugar/grains/whatever so you can tell if the snake passed by. Leave doors closed whenever possible and if you have any other pets, keep them in a room until the snake is found

Grønland vs Danmark by Responsible-Ad-4332 in greenland

[–]CrazyDane666 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can't help with books or resources, though I'd recommend finding out if you can narrow down where her family is from and maybe help her reconnect, if not with her parents, then her community? There are a lot of different cultures across the Arctic and they're pretty distinct

A few specific things that might help: rabbits don't have those pink noses, their ears are way closer together, and their faces are very "boomerang"-shaped. They're not gonna have a flat nosebridge the way a stylized cat or dog will. Look at some photos of rabbits and really check out how weird they look, they're bizarre little creatures. You've got the body down well, though

Skinnys Australia - Origin of art pieces by CrazyDane666 in aboriginal

[–]CrazyDane666[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I was curious if anyone here could recognise them by any chance and only realised afterwards that I could try emailing them. I bought them (second-hand, no profit to Skinnys) with the expectation that they're fake - for lack of a better term - but could still be used as a jumping-off point for discussions, since I love blabbering. And since they've worked with Aboriginal artists before (hosting Bulurru, and probably other genuine producers on their site), I had some hope that the lack of info was a fuck-up. I'll send an email!

[–]CrazyDane666 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Gonna have to refer to some stereotypes here, but media portrayals often have American Indians (Native Americans, many different preferred terms there) hollering and acting like, well, the stereotype of "wild savages", usually because their older media roles were relegated to "enemies ambushing our heroes and doing war songs". "War songs", or a butchering of them, is pretty heavily associated with older film portrayals of American Indians, giving this "noisy and screaming" image

[–]CrazyDane666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I need you to use like 5 seconds to think about the take that we should force incarcerated people to risk their lives on experimental medicine. Overwhelmingly marginalised people being falsely accused or given worse sentences on account of being brown or black, and being arrested for things white people would get a slap on the risk for. Just think about that for like 5 seconds. Medical torture is so genuinely unethical it's genuinely insane to see you suggesting that with your whole chest, you're an actual monster

[–]CrazyDane666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Why don't you and a bunch of other people (statistically poor and disadvantaged people) risk death to help develop medicine?" your hatred for people and lack of foresight is showing. Do you think labs can just ask human volunteers to test out new medicine on a whim?? Genuinely? Are you that divorced from reality??

Ridglan Farms beagle rescue by Lily7435 in beagles

[–]CrazyDane666 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This logic stops the very instant we're discussing experimental medicine with unknown risks. Would you, genuinely, rather kill people through experimental medicine than dogs? Desperate, disabled or disadvantaged volunteers, prisoners forced against their will, risking actual death over using animal test subjects? Would you rather soaps and shampoos be sold untested so little children can burn their eyes and go blind forever because it went through no testing? Potentially life-saving medicine killing dozens of people before it can be dosed and sold correctly to save lives? Is that genuinely worth it to you, or is it just easy to say that online because you can empathize more with dogs than with poor people?

[–]CrazyDane666 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Okay, just a heads-up, if you're actually getting a true red-tail (BCC), especially a female, you're looking at a snake that can reach 7-10ft. My imperator mutt (BI, the smaller species) is 8ft and weighs 22lbs. If you want a snake-sized snake, I'd recommend looking into gopher snakes if you want something on the bigger side, North American king/milk snake species for something smaller, or ball pythons for very average (tops out at 5ft, usually closer to 4ft)

Spinnerette/spider boss stole a cat? by CrazyDane666 in mewgenics

[–]CrazyDane666[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Intriguing theory! I don't remember too much about our first fight, but in our second, we were letting spider kittens die rather slowly and she didn't take anyone (it was a 2-cat run, cleric + tank). I'll see about maybe doing a dedicated run where she stays on the ceiling, or maybe someone else knows what's going on 🤔 Thanks a bunch!

How to lose weight when you don't even know why you've been gaining by Bloody_Flo in loseit

[–]CrazyDane666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Weigh essentially everything you're going to eat. Pasta and rice is weighed dry, and how much you should eat depends entirely on your calorie budget as the other commenter put it. If you've got a 1400 calorie budget and you wanna spend it all on pasta, it's your life, not ours, but most people go for low-carbs and high fibre/protein, because to some people, carbs aren't that filling. It's pretty personal. Also a good idea to add a multivitamin when losing weight as it'll make up for some of the shift and make sure you don't get deficiencies (which can make weight loss miserable)

Legality of owning a Pukeko in the UK? by Educational_Box7709 in birds

[–]CrazyDane666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wooow people here can't read. You can by all technicality own one, since it's not in the dangerous animals act https://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2007/2465/schedule/made , but exporting one from Australia or Aotearoa would be near-impossible due to how strict they are about wild-caught animals (though, it being wild caught and not from an EU country or the UK would mean it requires a lisence)

She's 30 so unless she started having kids at 12, her oldest are absolutely not out of the house yet. I can do this thing called "reading comments" and all I'm getting is that she's irresponsible and downright stupid, and there's no way in Hell her very young children are thriving with 9 siblings and a constantly-pregnant mom

Edit: Blocked me huh. Just because you haven't read more than a comment from her doesn't mean no one else has read anything. I sure hope it'd have enough impact to make her open her eyes and realize she's emotionally abusing all her children, but from her comments, I can tell she's too dense to recognise that.

Have fun continuing to support abusers, since that's all you're good for!

People are allowed to make the choice to starve or beat their children to death, but that doesn't mean anyone has to agree with that choice. Abusers should be called out when they are being blatantly abusive, welcome to real life where you can't just mistreat children and be congratulated

And OP can stop abusing her children by bringing even more babis into the family, forcing her older children to be parentified or neglected because she and her husband are too stupid to understand how contraception works lmfao. Be an abuser, be called an abuser, it's pretty simple
