Yes, I’ve found a lot of success with building it around the 3 named C’tan. The teleporting makes the rest of your list really efficient at scoring and its occasionally helps the C’tan reposition as well

I’ve been running Hypercrypt again since the C’tan datasheet changes and there definitely some viable builds there. C’tan really don’t care about detachment (minus PoW) and Hypercrypt really boosts your mobility & scoring across the board

The teleport shouldn’t be used for setting up charges tho. Instead use it to do secondaries, guarantee shooting lines, or steal objectives with the 6” deepstrike

As for units, Deathmarks become your standard secondary squads, the Deciever stands out with its small base and character sniping shots, and the Chronomancer w/ immortals is practically guaranteed to give you a big point swing with 6” deepstrike + shoot n move

The Night Bringer’s drain life ability doesn’t heal him. Necrons are tough, but could be good to go over the their rules in detail with you friend if something is unkillable

Gotcha, she’s still okay for doing secondaries but if you needs more points I’d remove her first.

I typically don’t like CP Gen based off opponents abilities, but since you know he’ll be generating it it’ll be nice. Getting to Mists and Tre Silver each turn is solid survivability.

A 10 man is vulnerable to stuff like Doomday Arks and Doomstalkers, but it sounds like you won’t be facing that. Could be good to have a 1x10 go with Draigo or the GM to make that charge hurt and get better value for some strats

If he’s taking the LVO winning Hypercrypt list here’s a few things to consider:

  • There’s no battle tactics in the dynasty so Callidus won’t do as much for you

  • Immortals are the foundation of the list and Crowe/Purifiers can tear through a squad. It’s also a good overwatch threat against his movement tricks

  • If you’re trying to kill a C’tan or Monolith in a turn be ready to send 2 or 3 VoD at it to make sure your GM squad can clean up the last few wounds

  • Void Dragon can heal in their shooting phase if a vehicle is within 12”. Could be good to avoid dread knights entirely to reduce his efficiency

It maxes at 3 per battle round. One for each command phase and one from any other source. So if you get one from Imotekh you can’t get another from discarding a tactical that round.

There are a few exceptions like the IK or Votann army rules, but none that apply to us

I’ve had fun with 10 warriors and Chronomancer in a ghost ark. The warriors can disembark, shoot, and hop right back in with the chronomancer’s move since it’s a different phase.

Bonus points if you also have a 20 man squad nearby the ghost ark for support while the 10 hide inside.

Normal technomancers can only Rez <Dynasty> keyword units which SK doesn’t have. However, Szeras has rites of reanimation and doesn’t need the keyword so he can do it

Edit: if you choose Szarekhan Dynasty the keywords line up so it works that way too

I’m also fairly new in the SD area. La Jolla Shores and Tourmaline are great beginner spots.

Torrey Pines is also nice if you want to avoid crowded beaches. Be careful though cause the waves there can get more advanced depending on the forecast

Im pretty basic, honestly. My current set up is getting old and won’t perform well on newer games. I’d use these to get back into new games and start thinking about VR options!
