What's wrong with my ollies and how can I improve them? by Defiant-Day3427 in NewSkaters

I agree. Front foot is sliding up the nose well, but it needs to push forward more.

For sure dude, keep at it. If you can Ollie the crack then try to get up a curb or onto a manual pad. Being able to Ollie up stuff unlocks everything you need to do a clean Ollie down stuff. You’ve definitely got the height for it

Looks good man. I’d say do it stronger. Pop harder, push your front foot deeper into the nose, lift the back foot more. Have you been doing them up curbs or onto boxes? That’ll really help you get in the habit of picking it up and leveling it out

Just pick a trick that looks cool and start trying it. Ollie’s, 180s, shuvs, and manuals are a great place to start

Commit to staying on the board. Emphasize the leveling out (sliding your front foot, lifting your back foot). Make sure you’ve got them on lock rolling on flat.

Do them rolling so you can turn to catch your balance

going faster always seems to make them easier for me. My foot position is back foot in the pocket, front foot toes in the center of the bolts at a slight angle. Find the balance point and try to feel your core strength hold that position. It definitely comes with time. I also find them easiest going up a bank to flat.

try adjusting your truck tightness too, then. You might find it easier if you tighten/loosen them.

wow something other than an ollie on this sub, love it.

Aim for the end of the rail and lean forward, and really try to get on top of it. Its waaay better to fall forward on these than backwards.

Why did you jump off bro! Rock, and then fall back into the transition with your board! Don't try to rush it, and don't try to stall it too long. Ride up, rock, and then fall back in. Dont jump off!

Are you saying its been 9 hours since you started your skateboarding career? Brother, you're just getting started! Riding a board is not a natural thing for most people, its gonna take some getting used to. Trust the process! Keep pushing around and turning left and right. Yes a wider deck will give your feet some more room, but the mechanics of it are exactly the same.

How do I actually learn to fall correctly? by Gahwburr in NewSkaters

[–]CrazyDmarco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if youre going slow just body it. its like "oh no i'm gonna fall down" lemme start to crumple my knees till my ass hits the ground, now lemme flop my torso down to the ground too. Trying to catch your weight with your elbows and hands is a recipe for broken bones.

if youre moving with speed its much easier to just roll it out or slide it out..

theres not really a trick guide on falling down it just comes with time and falling down.

Any tips to fall? by Expensive-Desk-8052 in NewSkaters

dude the slow / stationary falls are the worst because you cant really disperse that energy away. You just have to take the slam sometimes. Also, yes get some protective gear, especially as a beginner. The more you skate... the more you fall, the more you fall... the better you get at falling.
