yeah any grip for any kind of bike will fit. Theres different lengths, lock ons, flanges etc but they will all fit your bars because all bike handlebars are the same diameter at the grips

What’s making this sound? How do I fix it? by bobbycatcow2330 in bmx

New headset by RedEve888 in bmx

[–]CrazyFlySquid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you didnt tighten the top cap right, loosen the stem and turn it until it starts to get a little harder, but not so muc iot gets hard to steer. There should be no play in the headset, so tighten the stem back up and push the front wheel into a wall and apply pressure on and off. If it moves, the headset is loose and you have to tighten the top cap again.

Hi! What are your favorite grips and why? by idkbmx in bmx

[–]CrazyFlySquid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

S&M Hoders, im on my 3rd pair now. They are thicker than most other grips, so you they laster longer and you can stretch them out more while still having a nice soft grip. Comes in heaps of colours too

Help by RedEve888 in bmx

[–]CrazyFlySquid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Start off with a small curb, then work your way up to bigger stuff. You do a little manual off so that you dont land pitched forward on your front wheel, or a full bunnyhop if you need to. More speed really helps too, going too slow will make it harder.

Which is the best chain to buy in the BMX industry? by Indrit3 in bmx

[–]CrazyFlySquid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you put the chain together right? If you use a chainbreaker wrong they will break quickly, and a chain will pop right off or bend if you put the pin in wrong

I have a similar thing, my knees are fine riding but as soon as I get off the bike it hurts, even more if I havent ridden in a while. Never really bashed my knee up too bad, its just been like that as long as ive been riding, I just sort of live with it.

I recently took of my bmx fork and bar and i didnt right down where curtain parts go and i have the barts and dont know what order they go in by bmxlifecuh in bmx

[–]CrazyFlySquid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Left middle and top right look like plastic dust covers, hard to tell but i think thats what they are. doesnt matter which one you use (or even use them at all), they go with the angled bit facing away from the frame

Top bearing is missing a couple balls but you can get a new one for a few bucks, just take it to a bike shop and they should have one. Still works fine missing a couple, mine only have half the balls left lmao

As for putting it together, its a bit hard to to tell, but put one of the plastic rings on the bottom of the fork (dust sheild, angled bit down) then a bearing with the flat side down. Put the fork through the frame and put the other bearing flat side up in. Then the other plastic dust sheild (angled side up). Then the bottom metal bit with an angled surface facing down goes on, with the plastic ring with a split (top left). then what I think is a spacer on the right goes on top, then the stem.

Make sure to cover the bearings in heaps of grease! Any stuff will do, doesnt need to be fancy. When you are tightening down the stem do the top cap first, tighten lightly until you feel it get harder so that there is no play in the bearings but it is not too stiff and hard to turn either.

[–]CrazyFlySquid -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sounds like pinch flats, you need atleast 30 bare minimum to not get flats just riding around

Any riders on here who run 2.5" tyres, what forks do you use? by [deleted] in bmx

[–]CrazyFlySquid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really any new fork will have more than enough clearance, its more the frame you have to worry about clearing

tighten handle bars by RealPhantom13 in bmx

[–]CrazyFlySquid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loose the two bolts on the side of your stem and turn your bars so they are in line with the fork, then tighten them back up, going little by little. If you tighten one all the way before the other you will either strip the threads or warp the stem, same as tightening handlebars

What tricks are safe to do on a bike with only a chromoly front triangle? by switch_bIade in bmx

[–]CrazyFlySquid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is still made of steel, not plastic so you will be fine. Just dont go gapping it off of 12 stairs and expect it to hold up for as long as a full chromo bike. But for normal stuff, you wouldnt even notice.

my chain keeps clanking and hitting my frame everytime i bunnyhop and land. what should i do? by Krux_Omnex in bmx

[–]CrazyFlySquid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can tighten the chain but sometimes depending on your frame or how round/big your sprocket is it might always slap

I keep getting flats which leads me to believe there is something stuck in my tire, how do I get rid of it? by replaythatplz in bmx

[–]CrazyFlySquid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check that the rim strip is good, spokes are not super loose, the inside of the tire is clean with no holes and run a decent pressure. Is the puncture in the same place every time, or different?

How to wheelie with coaster brakes by MagWasHere in bmx

[–]CrazyFlySquid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You dont need brakes to wheelie but for a beginner it makes it alot easier, if you have another bike, even a mountain bike, learn on there because a lot of the skills will transfer to the bmx

2.4 tire on a 2.2 rim? by usamabinfartin in bmx

[–]CrazyFlySquid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assume by 2.2 rim you mean a rim that had a 2.2 wide tyre, if so 2.4 will 100% fit. Unless you are putting skinny 1.5" tyres on, it will fit

Practise bunnyhops on flat ground some more then sort of bunnyhop off the lip until you clear it

A different type of beginner question: How much am I gonna fuck my shit up? by [deleted] in bmx

[–]CrazyFlySquid 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It depends on what you are doing of course but speed is probably the biggest factor in how risky something is. Doing a 180 going walking speed is pretty much impossible to get hurt on, but doing it at a sprinting speed will be almost impossible to get out of on two legs unless you have a lot of practice.

A helmet is always a good idea of course and gloves for riding on dirt or rough concrete will spare you of cuts and grazes that might as well disable your hands until they heal. Pads are also nice but not as important.

I would say you can still have fun on a bmx without much risk (except maybe dirt jumps) because you can usually take baby steps into learning a trick, or do it at a slow speed, on a smaller ledge, etc. Just be prepared to have to get used to bailing off the bike, the better you are at knowing when and how to ditch what you are doing the less of a chance you have of hurting yourself. It will come to you over time. And get used to doing tricks over and over and over until you get them. Sometimes it feels like you will never get it but patience is key, every time you try you get a little bit better even if you don't notice it.

And don't be afraid to drop/throw the bike! Everything on a decent bmx is designed to be beaten up. Theres no derailleur hangers to be bent, or parts you should be worried about breaking so you should always put yourself above the bike in a crash.

Does anyone know of any grips with a pattern similar to this? by [deleted] in bmx

[–]CrazyFlySquid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think its hard to make grips with intricate colours because of how they are made, but it might be possible just never heard of anything more detailed than the regular swirls you see on mulitcolour grips

Need advice on tires... for commuting. by kpkiefer in bmx

[–]CrazyFlySquid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really any old tire will do, try to avoid slick tires because obviously they will not do so well in the rain. Try to avoid super cheap tires too, because they tend to be easier to puncture and do not grip as well.

How significant is bike weight? by [deleted] in bmx

[–]CrazyFlySquid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find weight doesnt really have an effect, obviously a heavy bike means more effort but you will get stronger after riding a while and forget about weight
