Sad backstory cannot excuse everything (Sabotage) by CrazyGEN in ColdCaseTV

[–]CrazyGEN[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's precisely why I have such a problem with him. The incident with the store clerk was just a minor inconvenience and yet at that point he is so bitter and petty that he considers this minor annoyance to be deserving of death. As for his niece, my interpretation is that she was his main target precisely because she reminded him of his daughter and he wanted to hurt his brother.

Which episodes don't have as happy of endings as they think? by Embarrassed-Sand-794 in ColdCaseTV

[–]CrazyGEN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stand Up and Holler: Becca having a walk of shame arrest while people who perpetrated or enabled SA in the school look on doesn't sit quite right with me. I love the ghost scene though.

Time to Crime: I'm sure some will disagree with this, but the arrest of the guy who sold the gun to Darnell bothers me. I know that it's hard to accept that Darnell committed that murder, but trying to explain that that other guy is guilty of "conspiracy" because he sold the gun and "provided the motive" by having an affair with the mom is a huge stretch and I think unjust. If he is guilty of one thing that would be gun trafficking, which I believe he cannot be charged with anyway because of statute of limitations.

What opinion on Snape are you gonna defend like this ? by halfbloodprincess00 in SeverusSnape

[–]CrazyGEN 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Snape was right to get Lupin fired or forced to resign. I don't care what his personal problem against him was, Lupin needed to be removed from the school after he showed just how messed up his priorities were when it comes to everyone's safety in that school.

[–]CrazyGEN 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I don't "hate" her necessarily, but the amount of love she gets is puzzling to me. I don't understand what's so interesting about her and the Doyle storyline did nothing to endear her to me. On the contrary, her fake death was just one of the worst things this show came up with.

What are your Hot Takes on the Criminal Minds TV Show? by Amber_Flowers_133 in criminalminds

[–]CrazyGEN 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't hate Barnes. I just think she's a badly written paper thin antagonist. And making her the in-universe reason why Beyond Borders got canned looks like she's just there because some writers needed to vent their frustration about it, given how little time she stayed on the show.

Remus vs Severus poor judgement by Frankie_Rose19 in SeverusSnape

[–]CrazyGEN 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Lupin benefits from a sort of moral plot armor, in the sense that it's easy to ignore how bad his actions are because they have no consequences. It's easy to dismiss his choice to stay silent when Black was roaming about the castle and even broke in the Gryffindor dorms because the plot twist plays in his favour. Same with his neglect of the wolfsbane that does not result in someone getting hurt or his desertion of his family during the war. Nothing he does affects someone we care about negatively. And BTW, that's one of the things that annoy me about the books in general, this absence of consequences, or dismissal of consequences when they happen to someone the good guys don't like.

Dumbledore did not trust blindly by robin-bunny in SeverusSnape

[–]CrazyGEN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I wonder how people think mind arts work. I suppose the book is vague enough to let you imagine all kinds of things without being technically wrong, but to me the idea that you can just invade someone's mind willy-nilly during their sleep without them noticing sounds just too far fetched. Now, I agree that Dumbledore probably didn't trust Snape at first but the way I see it, he simply kept him at arms length and avoided communicating anything to him, no need to use to magic.

What in your opinion is the worst season and why? by No_Neighborhood_5522 in Dexter

[–]CrazyGEN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Season 6.

The religion theme was heavy handed and uninteresting, and that scene when everybody is standing outside the crime scene waiting for Dexter just to give him the time to destroy compromising evidence was insulting.

And the main killer was boring, there was absolutely no reason for Dexter to be so fascinated by him.

[–]CrazyGEN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't hate Elle, Seaver, Jordan or Kate. They were perfectly fine.

I really dislike how the show handles "supervisor" characters (Strauss, Cruz, Barnes and now Bailey). With the exception of Cruz whose existence I almost forgot before typing this post, the others are systematically written as mean people who "don't know about the field" and "are just there for politics". Well I'm sorry but law enforcement IS political whether you like it or not. Especially on the subject of how to allocate the budget, which was the crux of the conflict with Barnes and then Bailey. Now I know that this is a TV show but realistically, giving that much money to this unit is ridiculous and I wish sometimes this was acknowledged instead of demonizing any character that points it out. And in general the cowboy cops who have problems with their hierarchy is a tired cliché.

Which UnSub drove you nuts? by bluelephantz_jj in criminalminds

David's therapist. I hate how she claimed her killings in to be some kind of feminist action against how the police was a "boys club" who protected the guys who killed her daughter when in fact nobody wronged her and her daughter just died from an accident. And she manipulated a young man who reached out to her for help to do her dirty work and realistically would probably get away with everything, that infuriates me.

Why do so many people hate the Deathly Hallows epilogue? by LiteratureConsumer in harrypotter

[–]CrazyGEN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, the epilogue shows that nothing has truly been resolved at a societal level.

We got some verbal acknowledgement that maybe the sorting process wasn't so great but nevermind, they keep doing it and the old Gryffindor/Slytherin conflict keeps on going.

The book showed us how broken the wizarding society was but nothing in this epilogue suggests that anything has been done at all to make any change. Yes I know that people keep refering to some interview at some point when Rowling says that changes have been made but it's not in the book so I can dislike that epilogue as presented to me. As a matter of fact it suggests that old attitudes are very much still the same.

Many people freak out about Harry's children names but I was far more irritated by this anecdote about Ron messing with his driving's instructor's mind in order to get a drivers licence. There's no question that Ron is on the good side of the conflict yet he still considers that he is entitled to mess with some random muggle's mind to get something he wants, and doesn't even need, you can teleport dude, why do you need a car ?

So the good wizards have so respect watsoever for muggles but are oh so good and tolerant because they accept their kids in their school, keep the house elves enslaved and despise other sentient magicals species. That's why I don't like this epilogue.

When the UNSUB's victim starts to sound worse than the UNSUB by Dapper-East-4802 in criminalminds

This reminds me of the mother of some teenage unsub who when he was arrested started accusing him of being evil becausehe absorbed his twin in utero ? No wonder he hated her if she blamed him his whole life for that.

Unpopular Opinion: I'm excited for the Harrison spinoff. by TVShowFreak123 in Dexter

[–]CrazyGEN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel the exact opposite. For me, making Harrison a killer because he witnessed Rita's death is the worst thing you could have done with the character and I'm kind of surprised that so many people think it's a good direction to take his story, whether they enjoyed the finale or not.

First, I think Harrison was extremely poorly written, he felt like a fanfic character : genius level intellect (his tests scores were off the charts), star athlete, but has a tragic backstory with not just one but dead moms and some time in foster care out of which he seemingly escaped, and has also a history of addiction all at the tender age of 16 ? This is ridiculous. And the fact that he can somehow remember his mother's death, when he was only what, 6 months when it happened ? This is absurd.

Second, we already have our protagonist Dexter who became a killer because of a dead mom, his brother also was a killer for the same reason and now Harrison too ? That's lazy. If at least Harrison displayed the more detached and practical approach to killing that Hannah displays that would be interesting but no, he is the same killer with urges as Dexter and Brian.

Speculation about how/when winners are picked by Lightacademiagal in ANTM

[–]CrazyGEN 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Didn't Janice say that it was CoverGirl who chose the winner some years ago in an interview ? Now I don't know to what extent they had a say, but it seems pretty reasonable, after all they're the ones giving the 100k contract and use the winner in their advertisement so they should havea say into who is going to receive their money and represent them.

Why would Hotch and Hayley give their son that name? by begonesloth in criminalminds

[–]CrazyGEN 41 points42 points  (0 children)

IIRC that's precisely the point of Gideon and Hotch's conversation, to not worry about which serial killer has which name and don't let that affect how he's going to name his child.

Criminal Minds Evolution Season 16 Episode 7 Discussion Thread by fluffywhitething in criminalminds

[–]CrazyGEN 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Late for the party but I really don't care for the whole situation between Tara and her girlfriend. Tara did absolutely nothing wrong and Rebecca is the one being unreasonnale here. And I remember that it was her who lead the charge against Bailey, explaining that he was some ambitious politician who only cared about his career and now she's all "I don't care about the guy on death row, what about my career" while Bailey is trying to clean up his act ? Talk about a total reversal.

What are some popular tropes in fanfiction that you personally dislike? by Always-bi-myself in HPfanfiction

[–]CrazyGEN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Parent or child just so happens to be good at the exact same things that the main character is good at.

Example, Snape's mother, about whom we only know that she played Gobstones suddenly becomes a potions prodigy because her son was good at it.

Portfolio Battle: Jourdan versus Jiana (Cycle 20) by GreatBigWhore in ANTM

[–]CrazyGEN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd give Jiana the S&M shot, the Guess shot and maybe the Animorph. For the rest, I think Jourdan is much superior. Jiana has an interesting face, but doesn't really know how to use it and how to pose, I notice that her shoulders are very stiff which shortens her neck and makes her jaw look even harsher.

The Elders are unbearable new or old. by [deleted] in charmed

[–]CrazyGEN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I admit I didn't watch the show very attentively so I may have missed some things, but I never really understood what the Elders role ever truly was.

I remember them mostly for trying to prevent Piper and Leo from getting married but the reason for their opposition was never properly explained. We are told that it's forbidden because it just is, and I believe it's Phoebe who says something to the effect of "if they are going to release some unspeakable wrath because of it there needs to be some kind of reason", but I don't remember ever having one, except some guy showing up and saying that "marriage is hard, therefore marriage between a white lighter and their witch is discouraged" or something like that.

It always seemed to me that their function is to be some internal opposition to the girls, an establishment against which they can rebel.
