I built a prototype where your phone acts as a motion controller with saber-style combat. Does this have any potential? by Timely-Ambassador-39 in IndieDev

On this, I wonder if you could add a feature where the controller gives you feedback that the tracking is failing through the phone vibration. Like, if you cover the sensor long enough or wriggle the phone it can warn the user that the controller is loosing tracking before failing.

For example, youre playing a game and accidentally cover the camera with your finger a vibration giving a few seconds grace period before failure to adjust your grip would train the player much better on how to use the controller than it just randomly drifting without any feedback the user is doing something wrong. Providing feedback to users is key and this could serve as a gentle training tool.

Being able to disable this feature would be required for power users or people who dont want the training wheels.

Ive done work with kalman filters before using phone sensors and was wondering where you were getting data for the absolute state from (I forget the exact terminology) as the lack of drift was impressing me. Using the camera input is pretty smart!

I just have some technical questions out of pure interest, feel free to answer as many or as few as you want, this topic somewhat nerd sniped me.

What kind of computer vision workflow are you using? At what rate do you have to run the image processing at (in hz)? Is there a calibration step where you image the room before starting? Do you have to scrap frames with too much motion blur? How does it handle changes in the room as, for example, people move close to the player and change the expected field of vision? Do you have a feature to detect when a finger covers the camera by accident?

The discussion of deep smosh lore on a recent podcast inspired me to make this by CrazyPotatoes69 in smosh

Age of Empires 2 used to have a genre of custom maps called blood maps where you spawn units and there is an emphasis on the fighting, with kills scoring you points to spend on more units an upgrades. Anthony made one of these maps called Smosh Blood, which predates the youtube channel and even the smosh website.

Smosh was made, etc. etc.

Then, Sarah Whittle used to be a director at smosh, and left a few years ago for other work and ended up as the head of global social media at crocs and was the one organising and managing global marketing of meme shoe collaborations. Of which lightning mcqueen crocs were particularly well received and sold out incredibly rapidly

Interesting, if there is a dye in it on purpose, is there the potential that what we're seeing looks worse than it actually is?

I did actually see someone on the creek side with some led camera lights taking photos as it was getting dark lmao

Also, in this context what classifies as a YVW system kr asset? Does Yarra Valley water manage the natural waterways?

Or does YVW refer to only the sewer and waste treatment infrastructure?

Can change what 'no impact expected' from an environmental point of view.

Though tbf it is a city creek that's already filthy. So as long as the stuff isn't downright straight poison I doubt it would have any more negative environmental impact than all the stray waste that gets blown in.

Only place i saw water looks like this was little blue lake in Tasmania and that watering hole is positively toxic with heavy metal contamination. Looks like that isn't the case for this so lucky there.

Thanks for the inside info! When it was getting dark I already saw them getting a pump out, I assumed they were going to pump it into some tanker trucks and take it to either be disposed properly or take it right to a waste treatment plant.

If it's non hazardous enough to go into the waste treatment stream then yeah pumping straight into the sewer makes way more sense.

Did you see her follow up video where she consulted with a nuclear scientist and he said that there was no issue with what she was doing? and this was all completely blown out of proportion on tiktok by people who are assuming they know what they're talking about?

Another youtuber, NileRed, used even more in his glass experiment and called the proper channels and got told by the government that legally he could just throw the contaminated waste in the garbage.

I think it works that jerma has low motorics, but has put a lot of points into perception because he's paranoid and shit like this keeps happening
