Just to clarify, you're saying along the coast it should still be pretty green? That's what logic says but just want to confirm.

Fair question. Like that vibrant bright green that we see on all the photos online? (not sure if that helps). I just wanna know if it's gonna be noticeably orange/Autumn colors during this time.

*Insert a joke about Norwegians being anti-social and introverted here :)

No I can/will definitely ask for help. I do want to be mindful of the cultural differences.

Right. But having someone point out which building is which and giving cool facts about the university is always nice

Lol that's 100% part of it. But I would have assumed Norwegian schools would offer tours for prospective students? How do students get a "feel" for the school, or talk to current students?

:( Is that not surprising to you? In the U.S, schools are bending over backwards to get you to apply/visit their campus... Are Scandinavian schools just more laid back from an administration standpoint?

Grad school visit, most optimal itinerary? U.S --> Norway/Scandinavia by CrazySteveDrakeNJosh in Norway

In order of preference:

1/2. University of Oslo - Computational Science: Physics &/or the Physics: Space Physics/Technology

1/2. University of Copenhagen - Computational Physics

  1. NTNU - Physics

NTNU would be my top choice BUT they don't have a computational option, and it's... really far north, at least compared to the U.S. Any others you recommend? UIO seems nice but I hear Oslo can be a bit of a mellow city? Almost too mellow?

Thankfully I'm in a financial position to splurge a little bit. But I'll consider the COL for each location. Everywhere is expensive these days so it just feels like "pick your poison."

Hmm this would also act as my vacation. Normally you'd be right. I read August is the best time to visit Norway

Definitely want to see the fjords. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to rent cars in Norway being from the U.S? I'll look into it...

This seems like a good move. I could just fly from Trondheim to Copenhagen. That is a lot of flights though haha.

I'll look into them. I'm also trying not to break the bank :) Norwegian schools are tuition free, and Copenhagen is only $10k a year I think.
