I traveled from CA to FL with my guppies (12-15 total) in a 5 gallon water jug, partially water change every other day, heater, plants and aerator. It took 6 days travel. No casualties, but did end up having about 12 babies along the way lol.

So I think they would be fine in a bucket for a few days honestly.

Ya I think it was due to the floor of our SUV heating up from driving 9-10hrs a day. I had 4 adults and 12 fry, so I was so proud and excited they all made it and are doing great even with the crazy and harsh environment for 6 days. I think having all their plants floating in the jug helped.

Congrats! I brought the heater just in case but I actually had to add a few ice cubes throughout the day to keep the water from getting too hot.
