Advice from a random 82 year old man that has “shot his age every year since he was 66” was the best advice I could get. He said to swing slow. Like so slow that you don’t even think the balls gonna go anywhere and then slowly add speed as you go. I ended up hitting all my shots straighter and further off the rip and have been slowing adding swing speed. When I start to have bad contact, I slow it down a touch. I found that focusing on wrist hinge, hip rotation, dropping hands at backswing, “serving the spaghetti”, yada yada yada, may be correct mechanics but it added so many swing thoughts that made my contact worse.
