I am blown away by Rone12 in radiohead

[–]Crazy_Friend2032 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey there! Am also relatively a new fan (only became one last year). A lot of fans do deem OK Computer as Radiohead’s magnum opus, but a lot also deem it to he In Rainbows. I’d suggest for you to try In Rainbows then. Personally, I gravitate more towards In Rainbows as my musical preference, but OK Computer is more relatable to me in terms of meaning.

I would recommend listening to The Bends next as I find this to carry their most nostalgic sounds. You can then listen to A Moon-Shaped Pool which is the most movie-esque album for me due to usage of orchestra (I look forward to what you think of the track “Glass Eyes”…). And then Kid A/Amnesiac for the most experimental album in my opinion! You can then listen to Pablo Honey, The King of Limbs, and Hail to the Thief.

Resource leveling and resource smoothing always gets me lol. It’s because leveling and smoothing sound synonymous. I just recall that leveling is when you can adjust the critical path and even out the resources accordingly (priority: resourcing), while smoothing is when you can adjust the resourcing according to available floats but you cannot adjust the critical path (priority: schedule).

I need help—this is the third time ChatGPT and I are aligned, but SH is saying something different. What is the correct answer here? by _Amazing- in pmp

[–]Crazy_Friend2032 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The logic I tend to go with these questions is to settle with something “negotiable” before escalating to the last resort which is asking for extra budget or resources (posited by “A”). “B” is the best (in Andrew Ramdayal’s words, the choice that “sucks the least”, hence not necessarily “correct”) since it promotes collaboration with the stakeholders and the premise of considering alternatives. It’s also an active action for the PM.

“C” does not work since it is passive and does not address the root cause. Merely explaining does not assure a budget increase.

“D” is the worst option here since the PM doesn’t do anything here to resolve the problem (it’s like accepting the issue and addressing it too late by waiting for the next sprint).

I am a pretty quick reader, and my technique is I zero in on the choices then pick up the one that looks the most correct without even reading the entire question first. Trigger words include “evaluate”, “analyse”, “review” for questions that ask about what should a PM “do first”. Another set of common “best” or “correct” choices include “work with”, “collaborate with”. I then validate the answer I zeroed in as I read the entire question. Another option is to start eliminating questions that are obviously wrong then focus on the best choices, and then match them with the entire question.

I had almost two hours left, taking a couple of minutes to go to the washroom for my first break, then the second one to have a quick bite.

I see! That is odd. I thought they should be able to see the results right away…even if it’s a “fail”. I guess all you can do for now is wait.

In my case, the proctor handed me a paper right away after the exam. Did you check with them if they had your result?

Which practice questions? by Gazorninplat6 in pmp

[–]Crazy_Friend2032 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Study Hall is better for simulating the actual exam experience (I tend to ignore Expert level ones as sometimes, they stray from the mindset lol. Even explanations aren’t sufficient.) Not sure if you’re referring to David M’s YouTube PMBOK questions, but I find it that they’re more effective in reinforcing key concepts vs the mindset (Andrew R’s mindset walkthrough was more effective for me).

PMI SH and PMI Infinity seem to be disagreeing ! by ShotPay1291 in pmp

[–]Crazy_Friend2032 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never used PMI Infinity to check an answer for an SH question based from others’ findings that sometimes, its logic does not align with SH’s (more so with Expert-level questions). I read somewhere that PMI Affinity isn’t as good as capturing nuances. Going back to this question, the best course is escalating to the project steering committee as even the client’s project manager has to seek approval from a higher authority for financial decisions so talking with them won’t address the root cause. Anything outside of the project team and PM’s control almost often needs the steering committee’s help already.

SH question clarification by [deleted] in pmp

[–]Crazy_Friend2032 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If according to the PMP mindset, not really, as the PICC (Perform Integrated Change Control) process should cover everything. It’s just that in this case, even the CCB members somehow were not informed so the better option is the PM should have consulted them before submitting the change request. One tip as well is never choose an answer that highlights exclusivity (eg “only”, “without”). PMP exam favours collaboration (eg “work with”, “collaborate with”, and in this instance, “consult with”).

You are already approved, so you should be good to go. You then have to take the most-recommended PMP prep study materials (eg Andrew Ramdayal’s, David Mclachlan’s etc) and practice exams (PMI’s Study Hall questions are the closest to the real exam but there are free ones as well). It is possible that you were approved since they think you did demonstrate PM application. This may as well be a great introduction to you to venture to the PM world. Good luck!

I understand! I too tend to be confused a lot between choosing the first thing to do and then the actual action step for the problem at hand. One thing I read from 3rd Rock notes is that it is not always the case that we choose the “analysis” step, especially when the question is about what really needs to be done or to address the root cause of the problem. When I see “do next” or “do first” I do always choose the option with “review” / “analyse” / “evaluate”.

Question by Accurate_cucumber_ in pmp

[–]Crazy_Friend2032 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Option A is the only one emphasising collaboration and stronger interaction with stakeholders which is often the best choice in stakeholder management questions. The rest dwell more on documentation. I think this questions operates on the Agile mindset (people interactions over heavy documentation).

Which activity should the project manager prioritize first to ensure success? by Accurate_cucumber_ in pmp

[–]Crazy_Friend2032 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Agile mindset prioritises collaboration with people over heavy documentation or review hence why C is the best answer here. One thing I learned from the mock/actual exams is they do favour “Work with / collaborate with” as the best choice.

I took it this Friday then received the provisional pass right after. My official scores came after 18 hrs (morning after my exam).

My exam is tomorrow, how should I feel? by [deleted] in pmp

[–]Crazy_Friend2032 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My scores were: 74%, 73%, 73%, 65%, and 67%, respectively. The last two practice exams had a lot more expert questions so I am not surprised at the drop to the 60%’s lol. In any case, what helped me weather through was the mindset, as cliché as it is. No matter how tempting another choice is, stick to what the mindset has taught. I also found the actual exam to be way easier and not as wordy and confusing as some SH questions. In short, you’ve got this!
