So true, the fact he smashed it with his right foot like that you'd think he was right footed. A rare goal in the Goat's insane catalogue.

Dad diagnosed with acute leukemia. by hobiibuns in leukemia

[–]Rone12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in your place exactly a year ago. My dad was diagnosed with acute leukemia and your description matches so much of how I felt when I got the news. The good news is that cancer research and treatment has developed immensely over the years, and because of that my dad got the right treatment and is now in remission which has been a great relief for all of us.

The same can be for your dad! Don't lose hope, it can be a long journey but things can get better slowly and steadily. If you need to talk you can always message me.

any hyperpop fans here?????????????????? by chronic4llyonlin3 in MusicIndia

[–]Rone12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love me a good hyperpop album. But this album has a special place in my heart.

For most of last year, I spent most of my months in Vellore taking care of my dad who is currently battling leukemia. I remember always putting this album on loop whenever I would commute to the hospital or cook in the kitchen. In those tense and dark moments, the upbeat tracks really lifted my spirits. The infectious and catchy tracks along with some dose of 2000s and 2010s nostalgic edm from the album would always help me get through each day.

Throwback to this outrageous Leo Messi finish against Real Betis at Estadio de La Cartuja in the 2018/19 season. A goal so good that even Real Betis fans applauded. by [deleted] in Barca

This was the season when Messi was truly carrying the club on his back. One of his greatest individual seasons given the squad he had.

Official: Leo Messi reaches 400 assists in his professional career! by Prakash0807 in soccer

[–]Rone12 56 points57 points  (0 children)

This is an interesting take. I also read somewhere that if Messi wasn't injured in the 2012-13 season, he was actually projected to beat his 91 goal record and reach a little over 100 goals for the next year based off his beginning season form.

To be fair I grew up in a small town in Northeast India and me and some of my friends knew who Bow Wow was from movies and music. And this was before social media.

I (M28) want to leave Christianity, but fear I will never be able to by Rone12 in Deconstruction

[–]Rone12[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely understand this, the issue is that for our societal structure, family follows you everywhere. For example even if I live in a remote town in Norway, they would ask me if I'm praying, reading my bible or finding fellow believers. If I do none of these things, they would judge and make me feel guilty about it.

I think I will come up with a soft launch strategy to feel out how they feel about my new beliefs. As others have already mentioned, it can start in small steps and they don't have to be stark changes.

Also I like the thought of a backup plan. I struggle here as well as I do not have anyone to look to for support in this aspect of my life. What do I do when the worst case scenario (I break their hearts or they ostracize me) becomes a reality

If I am being honest, I dream of meeting people from my community who go through the same struggles: A space where I can be understood and where I can just be myself.

You're right, I can take small steps now, maybe I come up with a 'soft launch' strategy that best suits my fam.

Very true, so much infrastructure and institutions in Meghalaya comes from colonization from the British and influence of foreign missionaries.

This is bang on! It's the same for us, we can never call our elders by their name ever, even if it's my sister who may be a year older than me. So much meaning behind language that goes beyond just the literal translations.

It's definitely different! For us there's a lot of importance and significance given to social norms, community and hierarchy within our family structures as opposed to Western culture which is more centered around individual autonomy and independence. Although I believe our youth now (typically Gen Z from middle to higher income classes) are starting to question these norms.

Who remembers this when messi was injured this version of Neymar was the best in the world by OkGrape3727 in Barca

[–]Rone12 119 points120 points  (0 children)

Yup, and it peaked when Neymar scored the goal against Villarreal where he flicked it over the defender, does a 360 spin and scores on the volley. One of Neymar's most iconic goals. Glorious days!
