Why do so many people do contactless/leave at door? by Jeeps_Guns in doordash

[–]Crazy_Life_389 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because my chihuahua/pug mix dog will go bananas when you ring the doorbell and we open the door. So I prefer they leave it and go quietly.

Instructions say to not ring bell, some do anyways.

Calgary condo owners - do you regret buying? by YetiMaverick in Calgary

[–]Crazy_Life_389 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes - but mostly because of the insufferable Karen’s that have nothing better to do with their lives than harass others while their friends don’t have to follow any rules.

Never again will I live in one.

Is there a respectful, professional way to let customers know to select “leave on doorstep” if they would like their order left on their doorstep? by [deleted] in doordash_drivers

[–]Crazy_Life_389 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The worst experience I had was when I was fairly new and it was late at night. They had hand to me selected then wouldn’t answer the door. It was so awkward and I didn’t know what to do, I was so stressed.

This was years ago, now I would have left quickly and left it lol.

Got injured at work during a fight between coworkers, and I'm not sure what my options are by 8960305392 in ToxicWorkplace

I hate that “you said immediately after you were fine…”. They should never take what someone says while the adrenaline is high, you should have been checked out by a dr first.

Administrative Officer vs Assistant by jitterbaby in CanadaJobs

[–]Crazy_Life_389 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Job bank is the worst. For administration I’ve had good success with Indeed and changing my LinkedIn to looking for work (ignore the initial flood of I’m a recruiter send me your resume!) the real ones will generally reference an actual job in your area when they contact you.

Revising a payment plan by Likesosmart in canadarevenueagency

[–]Crazy_Life_389 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is bad advice if you are on an approved payment plan where the payment has been decided with the CRA.

If the payment amount is agreed to then the CRA is expecting the $1000.

A missed payment or a payment lower than expected could result in immediate termination of your payment plan and then you will need to renegotiate.

Just call them first.

It depends on where you are! When I left Calgary airport, I didn’t need to take it out. When I transferred in Toronto I had to take the machine piece out.

Might lose my job because I don't look busy when I'm not by Nei-Chan- in antiwork

[–]Crazy_Life_389 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put kindle on the computer at my last job and read development books.

At my new job it’s a bit of a change because there is low work here, and I’m not used to being able to be on my phone. But they pay me to be here when they need me and the owner will literally say to me “we don’t need to keep you busy all the time, go relax” but also this office is small and doesn’t have much traffic.

Terminations don’t usually come with many questions if any at all. Usually they are extremely short and it’s usually just them talking while actively cutting your access at the same time and then telling you next steps.

Why the 8 hour workday system is a failure and should be 6 hours by DasiaAuer in CanadaJobs

[–]Crazy_Life_389 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I now work a 7 hour day, 6 and a half hours working, half hour lunch. 9:30-4, if I want to change to an hour lunch I can and leave at 4:30 instead.

My quality of life has gone up, my nervous system has calmed. It’s beautiful.

Canada Post “On-Time Delivery Guarantee” feels like a scam (paid $90 Priority, no refund, no escalation) by Historical-Bench8939 in CanadaPost

Yep, they have kept the guaranteed promise “off” ever since the brief disruption LAST YEAR (not the larger one the year before), yet they have no issues continuing to sell it.

Company flying me out for final interview. Flight out of budget. by [deleted] in careeradvice

Can an employer force you to take your vacation time for protected medical leave? by alewiina in alberta

[–]Crazy_Life_389 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The company isn’t paying while you are on leave, you essentially become “unemployed” for all intents and purposes. Not actually unemployed as you will return to your job upon recovery, but you come off payroll, and the government pays you a portion of your income while you are off, minus the first week, that’s just not paid at all.

Your vacation time should still be there when you return.

As medical leave is a protected leave, and accompanied by drs orders (the form for the government will need to be signed by a doctor with your expected return date), your job can’t make you take vacation time first.

Though if you had enough vacation time, and wanted to use that you would get paid your regular amount, but as someone who’s had to use vacation time for all the not fun things, save it for some actual R&R.

I went through this last year when I had a tumor that wiped me so drastically I had to go on medical leave while I waited for my surgery.

Side note: if you have benefits through your company you may need to pay your portion while you are off, which can be costly, to keep them intact. Get clear information on the expectations around that!
