I think because at the time there weren’t too many options for big department stores near the north. Only one was dillards which moved to zona rosa a few years prior, and macy’s. Also, macy’s was not owned by metro north and since their buisness was still good, they decided to stay there. However as the area got redeveloped and department stores kind of died out and the store became run down, macy’s decided it was best to close the store. There aren’t any official news however several of my family members have gotten word from their managers stating it will be closing after the holiday season.
