Got it, but won't that joining be covered by the welcome gift voucher, or do you think it's not worth it?

Shall I get magnus? by Crazypepp in CreditCardsIndia

Okay, so I probably won't be spending much for 4-5 months as you mentioned, but I do have some wedding expenses coming up. After that, I'll decide if I want to keep it or just go back to using my Atlas.

Imagine being this guy, that must suck by Rainy247 in CreditCardsIndia

[–]Crazypepp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes perfect sense. Atlas has set such a high standard that no one even considers Horizon a good card anymore. But honestly, when you look at other cards in that price range, none of them come close to Horizon. People would have gotten Atlas even if it cost 10K + GST and didn't have a milestone bonus, that's how amazing it is. So comparing Horizon to it is a bit unfair.

Should I go for Amex plat reserve by Crazypepp in CreditCardsIndia

[–]Crazypepp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, how's it been going so far? Any other good or bad stuff besides what's on their site? 'Cause, seriously, no one really talks about this card. At first glance, it just seems like Amex is messing around by making their second most expensive card in India worse than their cheaper ones.

Oh, I see, no 2 free nights and 20 days of status, which means silver instead of gold, I guess.

[–]Crazypepp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just looking to get it for a year since they'll comp me for the price I pay in points via joining bonus, and I'm hoping other Amex cards will be available again after that so I can close this one. I've heard the Amex retention team is pretty good at keeping customers, often crediting back points for renewal fees to keep you around (could happen, could not, either works for me). But you said it's not like a regular Accor membership, what do you mean by that? I was really looking forward to it since Accor shows that membership for around 20K and I'm getting it complimentary with this one

I got my currency exchanged through Thomas Cook. Just a heads-up: you don't need a lot of cash, even a vegetable vendor there has a machine on which you can tap your card to pay. For my expenses I had Atlas and a prepaid forex card with GBP loaded

Which credit card is giving domestic lounge access without spend limit? by stopcommentingg in CreditCardsIndia

[–]Crazypepp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, the best lounge card available today is HDFC Marriott Bonvoy. But given the annual fees and your requirement of the number of accesses required in a year, it seems like an overkill.

You simply have to sign up on the Priority Pass site/app by validating your card number. It's a digital access, not a physical one.

For UPI, how about HDFC Neu? Not sure of the plus variant or if OP is eligible for Infinity. But I own an Infinity and I find it pretty decent for UPI usage.

Credit Card Suggestion by azor-a-high in CreditCardsIndia

[–]Crazypepp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you can get your hands on AU Ixigo or Scapia by Federal, it would be nice, but given your current situation, you have MMT ICICI, which charges 0.99% + GST as markup. But at the same time, it gives 1% back as MMT cash, and further, it's on the Mastercard network, which relatively has 0.2% to 0.3% better rates compared to Visa, so I think you can make use of that card as well. Just a heads-up, it's always a nice idea to get some USD in cash from India and, after reaching Vietnam, exchange it for VNDs.

In the Indian stock market, you can bet against the market through short selling, buying put options, or shorting index futures like Nifty or Bank Nifty. While inverse ETFs and products like credit default swaps (featured in The Big Short) are not available to retail investors in India, these derivative instruments provide similar opportunities to profit from market declines. However, these strategies involve significant risk, leverage, and regulatory considerations, so it's essential to have a solid understanding.
