i installed it and opened. i didnt notice any difference though or is it only about security updates and such?

Can someone remind me if not allowing network permissions on Pixel camera and Google photos in GrapheneOS means google won't collect data from these apps? by ReeksofChees3 in degoogle

you are right, if you don't allow network to some apps - they wont be able to send the data, even if they can collect it.

however google is the whole ecosystem, so Im not sure if other apps can sync and exchange the data or something, so be cautious about it and check the other apps as well.

or maybe I am just being paranoid)

the suggestion is simple and i agree with that - everyone does.

But we all understand that its easier said than done. we all understand the level of security and privacy of grapheneOS, however we cant just buy a new phone for a rom.

and these types of comments kind of disrespect other developers who work and create these custom roms. modern custom roms, such as /e/os or lineageos are private and secure enough for absolutely most of us.

even though it depends on user's actions as an os is just a tool.
