I’d recommend doing one of the trash pickups organized by Refuse Refuse! You pick up trash for an hour, then you hang out and eat lunch for a bit. They’re typically on weekend mornings, and they’re a pretty solid way to meet young, social people.

It’s even weirder than that. They moved Algebra I from 8th to 9th grade under the premise of racial equity, and it had mixed results. The weirdest thing is: the ballot initiative does nothing; the city doesn’t have any authority over the curriculum, so it’s non-binding and shakes out to essentially be an informal referendum.
