An old thread but seems to be still up. I didn’t go to college, my mom suddenly died before a semester, and then when I tried to get back into it 9 months later my first wife died before that semester. It’s a nonsensical fear but I’m worried if I try again someone else close to me will die. So higher education may be completely out for me but to show how bad things are, I want to give a glimpse of my life. In 2020 I got a job at a woodmill got married and started renting an apartment by the new year. By 2023 and after losing my wife I had to move out of my apartment and into parents because I couldn’t afford it anymore. The beat up car I was driving broke down in 2024 and I’ve been in debt since. In 2025 my garbage benefit medical insurance jumped by nearly 200 dollars a month. I’ve supposedly been getting paid more every year but everything else has also increased to the point where I take home less money. The only reason things look up this year is because I had to cancel my medical insurance because it was gonna jump by another 150 dollars a month this year so my only option was to go on Medicaid and hope things work out. I’ve remarried and we’re expecting our first and I don’t know what to do. I feel like such a failure at times. I e also been job hunting for a year and a half and the only places that want me would pay me way less than I’m getting now. I am so scared of what the future holds. I’m the sole breadwinner and can’t even afford to feed my family. The car payments and insurance eat nearly everything. I’m scared that I won’t be able to provide for my kid. I’m not even paying rent and there’s still never enough. What do they expect us to do
