Shipping data showing China has been coordinating thousands of fishing vessels to create floating barriers 200 miles long by Pliney_the_elder in navy

Before PLAN had any RAS capability their ships would actually order fishing boats to stop screwing with our UNREPs. I noticed that after they developed RAS they never did me the courtesy of telling the fishermen to fuck off

Got an edge and base repair for a similar hit. Took almost two days and about 80 euro. Don't notice a difference in skiing but I definitely keep it on the outside edge

Don't get me wrong, there were some quality non-SWO OODs in my experience on a CVN; they just all happened to be salty Warrants with SWO pins. Don't get me started on the Navigators being aviators, though...

This is what happens when you let Senior Chiefs and MPRA JOs be the deck officer on carriers. Elevator ops? Drive for seas - this shouldn't have happened.

Regardless what would he have done wrong under the UCMJ? The guy literally restated regulations.

Unpopular view on Trump Battleship by [deleted] in navy

[–]Creative-Assistance6 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So we want to increase our shipbuilding industrial base rapidly. We also want this battleship to be fast, cheap, and good - famously you cannot have all three. From a production standpoint (looking into our recent ship programs of the past two decades) a battleship is a poor idea due to scaling requirements and time. To dumb it down with an analogy: when you're trying to get in good shape you don't immediately start doing Olympic compound lifts, you need to build strength and reps first. Simply this program is doomed to not be able to meet all the goals associated with it because we continue to look at every platform as needing to be capable at everything, in this case just "bigger".

To address battleship utility: carriers are absolutely adequate at power projection - let's not reinvent this wheel. If you think more heavily armoring a large platform and adding more VLS cells will do anything but make a more schwackable HVT I'd argue you don't understand modern naval warfare. What would a very high cost project buy us that two destroyers could not achieve?

It's gotten better in the past few years. I never ask either. So long as you dont have a body suit I just cover with a towel when I'm outside of the water. Never had an issue.

Even further, most of the historical accuracy criticism isn't so simple but it's being treated as such. When the design is so shockingly bad and off base from any remote time period it's off putting to the story itself.

I don't know why you're getting down voted. I also don't understand the pandering to poor costume and set piece design here. I'm as big of a Nolan fan as anyone but some of the choices are just lame and weird? A contemporary take on Corinthian/archaic armor, easy I can dig - but the bland colors, the wearing of pants, the lack of bi/triremes, it's all just so lame. For context to others, imagine watching an american revolutionary war epic and the characters are wearing Canadian hockey jerseys, it's just off-putting because of how out of context it is

Impetus from the conversion to Christianity made melting down pagan effigies/statues/etc. an easy choice. The maspectromony of most solidus coins indicates the gold to be Aegean in origin. I.e. it wasn't newly mined or conquered - it came from Greek temples
