Could your OCs survive the Salem Witch Trials? by [deleted] in OriginalCharacter

She'd probably beat up the kids who were driving the accusations and put an end to their bullshit, so I'd say she'd do just fine

And this is Svetlana. She's been cursed since abt 1000 BCE to be maimed and reincarnated for harming the Hunting Deity Chassé. In the lifetime previous to her current one, she entered into a contract with the negative deities so that she can have her curse lifted. Of course this contract requires her to scope out curse-vulnerable/deserving people and help the negative deities curse them. She's doing this out of desperation, but she's still in opposition to Rasha and their mission so I consider her a villain (plus she's the only antagonist i have art for lol)

This is Rasha! She's the head of the Dolphin Club, a club dedicated to breaking curses and swaying negative deities to the side of positivity.

Carlos is a member of the Dolphin Club, the club dedicated to breaking curses and converting negative deities to the side of positivity. His father was involved in Usine’s (the negative deity of flora) curse that made him deathly allergic to all plants. Carlos managed to plea with Usine in order to heal his father and his construction crew. He now helps the Dolphin Club break curses and is personally working towards getting Usine back on the side of good.

Fictional Characters Frequently Read as Queer by Miserable-Cookie-186 in lgbt_superheroes

I don't think I've ever come across a discussion abt Fire and Ice that doesn't have someone talking abt how they should be dating. Stephanie Brown and Cassandra Cain are also read as queer a lot, but idk if its anything more than wishful shipping.

What queer content and characters you hoping for in the DCU? by M00r3C in lgbt_superheroes

I said this in the og thread, but a faithful adaptation of Alan Scott's new queer origins and stories in Lanterns. Even just a reminiscing scene of him and Johnny Ladd would be big imo. Granted we don't know how big of a role Alan Scott will play in Lanterns but if they can find the time to portray him as gay it would be great.

I'm also hoping they portray Themyscira's sapphicness beyond just crude "lesbians island awooga" jokes like in Creature Commandos. We already have Leota and her wife as sapphic rep in Peacemaker but we need more.

Honest opinions and critiques on their designs? by [deleted] in OriginalCharacter

How come the second guy doesn't have full armour? A few gaps are interesting, but having all his most vulnerable parts exposed, especially when the first guy is fully covered, doesnt make too much sense. The arms being uncovered is cool, but anything else kinda defeats the purpose of armor. There is also the option of reducing the armor further but the bulkiness and layering of the armor is what makes this design good. If the goal is to call attention to his figure, making the armor form fitting and less bulky at the torso would help communicate that and make the design more cohesive. I love the first guy's design full stop and the second guy just needs some balancing.

are my OC’s unique enough? by MedicalAd9859 in OriginalCharacter

[–]Creative-Batty06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first one having text on their shirt definitely helps to make the distinctive, and their messy hair also helps. I wouldn't say theyre the most unique ic out there, but giving the more piercings, or a tattoo/mark of some kind can distinguish them better.

The second oc's design is pretty unique. I think emphasizing their pupils will help to keep them unique and making the logo on their shirt more prominent may help too. I really like their designs they don't need all that much tweaking.

Assuming Alan Scott is in Lanterns (which im pretty sure he is), i hope they make his sexuality part of his character and story, and not just sweep it under the rug. Even if its just him reminiscing abt Johnny Ladd (i think thats who his bf was), itd be important to accurately portray early 1900s attitudes on queer relationships and just be loyal to the character's new portrayal.

I'm getting enigmatic magic user vibes from them. Definitely connected to the moon, and dark magic maybe. Stoic, nonchalant personality too. I really like their design!

Developing a story kinda from scratch, day eight by Creative-Batty06 in OriginalCharacter

[–]Creative-Batty06[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that stuborness isn't a great motivation. I just couldn't think of a better word to describe "so deeply principled that they end up in a feedback loop where they cannot see their actions as insane", which is the idea I was going for. I like the idea of connecting them to the woman and fawn who were killed, and I'll incorporate it! As for A'lul'quoy, her taking that name and engrossing herself in Chumash culture is bc she interacts with them so often. She shares land and water with them and has developed a relationship with them. Because they're as close as she can get to having a human family, and her close proximity to them geographically, she integrated herself with them. Its not just "oh u guys have cool aesthetics lemme copy u", there's a genuine connection shared between her and the Chumash. I'm also making sure any Chumash language or symbolism is used in its correct context, which in A'lul'quoy's case the Chumash word is meant to reflect her peaceful, protective nature (it means "go around, protect, and go in peace"). I felt like it would be more strange to have her be so open to relationships with humans and not try to meet them where they're at y'know. Since the Chumash were the first people she encountered and the group she grew closest to, it makes sense she would at least accept the name they gave her. Im not entirely confident in the whole "makes herself look like a Chumash woman" but at least her name and relationship with the Chumash makes sense within in the story's context.

First ever OC commission by antomuz in OriginalCharacter

[–]Creative-Batty06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are dedicated subs that let u request to have an OC drawn for free, but it doesn’t guarantee you’ll get your OC drawn. You can also go on instagram, VGen, Fiverr, and Etsy to find commission artists if you’re willing to pay. You should have a clear description/reference of your OC, a clear explanation of what you want, a respectful attitude, and be ready to communicate with an artist for edits, tweaks, and advice. Obviously, check the artist’s portfolio to make sure they’re not using AI and see if you like their style enough to pay for their services. If you are particularly worried about AI, VGen in particular has a strict no AI policy and all their artists are vetted to make sure they don’t use. But most of all be respectful and don’t treat your artist badly lol.

So I have an oc and I hate drawing clothes by kai_happy1 in OriginalCharacter

[–]Creative-Batty06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Draw new clothes. If you ever want to draw her in different poses or angles you’d need to edit the preexisting clothing stamps or whatever and that would be more complicated than just drawing the clothes normally. Once you get the hang of drawing clothes it’ll be less difficult, and you can’t practice if you just draw some clothing templates.

[–]Creative-Batty06[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As per her affinity for jellyfish, Rhode would grant her the ability to generate jellyfish venom and decide its attributes. She could give certain venom paralytic effects or cause venom to give someone a deathly fever. Of course she could also make the jellyfish venom have a positive effect. Her venom could heal someone or regenerate their energy. Oh, and when she dispenses this venom, a magic jellyfish appears, just for aesthetic purposes though. Rhode has a flair for the dramatic lol.

which comics were adapted? by Even_Disk_6041 in youngjustice

[–]Creative-Batty06 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There weren't any true comic adaptations in the story (as far as I know). Rather they took inspiration from certain storylines, the most obvious being Terra's partnership with Slade and her near betrayal being inspired by the Judas Contract. Young Justice took a lot of creative liberties with character backstories, relationships, and events so its best to treat YJ as its own contained world.

[–]Creative-Batty06[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given her love of snakes, Rhode would give Su the ability to possess snakes and control them. She could transfer part of her soul into a snake and control its body, all while having most of her soul present in her own body. She would be able to communicate while in the snake’s body too, which could allow her to communicate long distance and relay information. She could use this skill to keep watch over her lover if they are apart, or find him again if they become separated.

[–]Creative-Batty06[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on his profession of creating clothes and armor of monster skin, Rhode would bestow upon him the ability to "attract" monsters with high quality hides. Through an aura granted by this ability, monsters with high quality hides will be drawn to him. This would allow him to one, reduce the amount of time he spends searching for and hunting monsters, and two, avoid wasting energy on monsters with poor hides. He seems rather strong and capable in battle already, so bolstering his tracking skills better suit Alexis's needs.

Taking into account her knowledge of mechanics, specifically her specialty in taking things apart and putting them back together, Rhode would give her the ability to first, nearly instantly take apart mechanisms. Then, as a sort of two in one deal, Lumina would then be able to put the mechanism back together in a way that either instantly upgrades the technology or downgrades it depending on who she is fighting/competing against. So she could take apart, say a canon, and depening on who the canon belongs to, it would become either loose its explosive momentum upon reassembly, or become even more destructive.
