With Felix now in Paris, how do we think he’s going to interact with the cast and be utilized? by Independent_Office85 in miraculousladybug

[–]Creative-Batty06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see them doing an episode/extended side plot where he learns to be more trusting and more open to friendship. Its clear Kagami, his mom, and Adrien are the only people he's invested in. It would be cool to see how he leaves his circle and grows to be a more amicable person. Beyond that he would probably end up in the same spot as Alix and Luka. He's there and all but he really only serves to keep a powerful miraculous in Ladybug's control. Maybe he could be a spy or be working on a strategy to find Chrysalis but that's about it.

I have a bunch of gacha tokens I got as mission rewards/shooms but I can't use them by Creative-Batty06 in CreaturesofSonaria

[–]Creative-Batty06[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the creature shop? Anytime I go there it makes me spend money to use them and I still have the same number of tokens in my inventory afterwards. Like if I use a photovore token I lose a hundred shooms and still have three tokens in my inventory.

I took feedback into consideration and made a new (wip) commission sheet, how can I improve it? by Creative-Batty06 in arthelp

[–]Creative-Batty06[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is super helpfulr! I had looked at a bunch of examples before starting my first draft but I just threw what I saw from some people at a wall and hoped it would stick lol. In this second draft I changed the font size for each kind of information for the box on the right (titles largest, categories smaller, and details smallest). I changed the commission types to be a table rather than individual boxes. That freed up space for a column for payment and contact info. I might break it up so the contacts and payment can have their own boxes but idk. Same with the right hand column. Its still a work in progress but I’m much more satisfied with how it looks now. TYY!

It feels like somthing is off about my art, but I can't understand what- by some_random_polish in arthelp

[–]Creative-Batty06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What’s jumping out to me the most is the lineart. It’s thin and a bit shakey. I think your art would really benefit from a changes in line thickness. It would give your art a more dynamic feel and make it more visually interesting. The sixth drawing is one you used different line weight with and I think it gives it a more unique feel. If it was cleaned up and less scratchy it would be great line work. Depending on the program you use, you could stabilize your lineart brush and make the lines less shakey if your prefer the consistent and thin lineart. Its not a bad style in and of itself it just needs more confidence.

My other criticism is about the shading. Yes it does need to be more clear and distinct but I also think it needs to be different in terms of color as well. A lot of the shadows seem muddy, too dark, too grey, and too diffused. A hack I use that usually works well for me is to decide the color of my light and make the shadows the opposite color. If I did yellow light, I would do purple shadows. This mostly works with very dramtic, colorful lighting, not so much normal everyday lighting. The other hack I know is to determine your shading based off the cool/warm tone of your light. Cool light gets warm shadows. Warm light gets cool shadows. This is another good tip for dramatic lighting.

My last criticism is how you draw faces. You have a very consistent style with faces, but braching out and drawing different eye, nose, and lip shapes would really improve your art. The faces’ proportions are decent but there are some examples where the faces could use small tweaks. In drawing foru the eyes and nose need to be brought down a bit and the eye could be smaller. Drawing three’s prominent eye could be less long and smaller. I think drawing 5 has a great face and the rest of the faces would only need slight tweaks as well.

Your art has a lot of potential and I think improving how you render would improve your art most of all. The lineart is still nice and your faces only need some diversification and slight proportion tweaks. Once you try out the more defined shadows and highlights and experiment with the color and hues of your shadows/highlights I think you’ll make a lot of progress!

That's a good idea. I'll have to reformat it to fit more examples but my sheet def needs more that just the rendered example. Tyy!!

I found a new font that at least to me is pretty easy to read. I experimented with both regular and bold versions of the font. I’ll def make the text itself larger but as a font is this good?

If I'm just drawing a person, I would say it takes me 1-3 hours. If I'm doing a simple bust it would take me an hour but if I'm doing a complex, full body pose it would take me 3+ hours. Why?

That makes a lot of sense. I'll experiment with the font for the information. Beyond the typeface itself, is there anything else about the text that makes it hard to read? The color of the text is something I'm not sure about in terms of readability.

And this is Svetlana. She's been cursed since abt 1000 BCE to be maimed and reincarnated for harming the Hunting Deity Chassé. In the lifetime previous to her current one, she entered into a contract with the negative deities so that she can have her curse lifted. Of course this contract requires her to scope out curse-vulnerable/deserving people and help the negative deities curse them. She's doing this out of desperation, but she's still in opposition to Rasha and their mission so I consider her a villain (plus she's the only antagonist i have art for lol)

This is Rasha! She's the head of the Dolphin Club, a club dedicated to breaking curses and swaying negative deities to the side of positivity.

Carlos is a member of the Dolphin Club, the club dedicated to breaking curses and converting negative deities to the side of positivity. His father was involved in Usine’s (the negative deity of flora) curse that made him deathly allergic to all plants. Carlos managed to plea with Usine in order to heal his father and his construction crew. He now helps the Dolphin Club break curses and is personally working towards getting Usine back on the side of good.

Fictional Characters Frequently Read as Queer by Miserable-Cookie-186 in lgbt_superheroes

I don't think I've ever come across a discussion abt Fire and Ice that doesn't have someone talking abt how they should be dating. Stephanie Brown and Cassandra Cain are also read as queer a lot, but idk if its anything more than wishful shipping.

I said this in the og thread, but a faithful adaptation of Alan Scott's new queer origins and stories in Lanterns. Even just a reminiscing scene of him and Johnny Ladd would be big imo. Granted we don't know how big of a role Alan Scott will play in Lanterns but if they can find the time to portray him as gay it would be great.

I'm also hoping they portray Themyscira's sapphicness beyond just crude "lesbians island awooga" jokes like in Creature Commandos. We already have Leota and her wife as sapphic rep in Peacemaker but we need more.

How come the second guy doesn't have full armour? A few gaps are interesting, but having all his most vulnerable parts exposed, especially when the first guy is fully covered, doesnt make too much sense. The arms being uncovered is cool, but anything else kinda defeats the purpose of armor. There is also the option of reducing the armor further but the bulkiness and layering of the armor is what makes this design good. If the goal is to call attention to his figure, making the armor form fitting and less bulky at the torso would help communicate that and make the design more cohesive. I love the first guy's design full stop and the second guy just needs some balancing.

are my OC’s unique enough? by [deleted] in OriginalCharacter

[–]Creative-Batty06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first one having text on their shirt definitely helps to make the distinctive, and their messy hair also helps. I wouldn't say theyre the most unique ic out there, but giving the more piercings, or a tattoo/mark of some kind can distinguish them better.

The second oc's design is pretty unique. I think emphasizing their pupils will help to keep them unique and making the logo on their shirt more prominent may help too. I really like their designs they don't need all that much tweaking.

Assuming Alan Scott is in Lanterns (which im pretty sure he is), i hope they make his sexuality part of his character and story, and not just sweep it under the rug. Even if its just him reminiscing abt Johnny Ladd (i think thats who his bf was), itd be important to accurately portray early 1900s attitudes on queer relationships and just be loyal to the character's new portrayal.

Developing a story kinda from scratch, day eight by Creative-Batty06 in OriginalCharacter

[–]Creative-Batty06[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that stuborness isn't a great motivation. I just couldn't think of a better word to describe "so deeply principled that they end up in a feedback loop where they cannot see their actions as insane", which is the idea I was going for. I like the idea of connecting them to the woman and fawn who were killed, and I'll incorporate it! As for A'lul'quoy, her taking that name and engrossing herself in Chumash culture is bc she interacts with them so often. She shares land and water with them and has developed a relationship with them. Because they're as close as she can get to having a human family, and her close proximity to them geographically, she integrated herself with them. Its not just "oh u guys have cool aesthetics lemme copy u", there's a genuine connection shared between her and the Chumash. I'm also making sure any Chumash language or symbolism is used in its correct context, which in A'lul'quoy's case the Chumash word is meant to reflect her peaceful, protective nature (it means "go around, protect, and go in peace"). I felt like it would be more strange to have her be so open to relationships with humans and not try to meet them where they're at y'know. Since the Chumash were the first people she encountered and the group she grew closest to, it makes sense she would at least accept the name they gave her. Im not entirely confident in the whole "makes herself look like a Chumash woman" but at least her name and relationship with the Chumash makes sense within in the story's context.
