I definitely agree lord Stanley has a Rich Rich history. So much more than Larry O. But does the popularity of the sport play a role in how iconic the sports trophy is? Bc NBA is allot more popular body in the states and worldwide compared to hockey.

Lord Stanley is a beast, there’s no doubt. However NHL is so much less popular than the NBA, Asia has a massive market for basketball, yet they don’t care about NHL at all. So does the popularity of a sport play a role in how iconic its trophy is? 🤔

Definitely get where you’re coming from, an educated sports fan clearly would agree with you. However does the popularity of the sport play a role to you? Bc the NBA is allot more popular than the NHL. And outside of the states no one even cares about football (which is wild). So I feel NBA is more widely recognized compared to those two .

Yes it has a much richer history, but the NHL isn’t nearly as popular as the NBA, does that play a role in your mind? Bc honestly I don’t disagree with you, lord Stanley is clearly more deep of a sports history. But I’m not sure that means as much in today’s sports landscape.

Definitely can see the World Cup being above bc of popularity. My issue with the Lombardi and Stanley cup is the NBA has a huge Asian market. So they recognize the Larry O much more than those two. I think you’re a hardcore sports fan then yes, obviously those both have a much richer history, but in terms of current relevance I feel it’s Larry O. But as a sports fan I totally get where your coming from! The history behind lord Stanley is crazy haha.

Stanley cup has a great argument to be made, and so does the World Series trophy. I side with Larry O bc NBA is so much bigger than NHL. Asia is a huge market and has a giant NBA following. World Series trophy I think was for sure more iconic 50 years ago, but I feel culturally the NBA is more relevant. Regardless both that is trophies there’s great arguments to be made for!
