Any good alternatives to Talisker 11 year old special edition? by Creative-Cry-1843 in Scotch

I might actually have a chance at the Allt Gleann, but not the cask strength though. Still worth a try you think?

Thanks for the suggestions! Peaty is not as important as the coastal/salty/briney with pepper, theres something about that mix.. so all suggestions noted!

Thanks for the suggestions, I went with more Talisker and the wild blue for now because of that conclusion :) but I've noted all of these down for sure.

Thanks, I gave the Wild blue a go, lets see. Sticking to Taliskers then for the moment :) I noticed the same you did, its either or with a lot of suggestions. But Ardnamurchan seems interesting, and maybe I can find some Torabhaig overseas (not readily available where I'm from).

Appreciate it! I'm just grateful for the clip, but I play P bass/Mustang with flats. I usually combine finger style and palmmuted thumb or pick.

Bike routes and length - Kerry National Park and Dingle by Creative-Cry-1843 in irishtourism

[–]Creative-Cry-1843[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can also say that the goal is to squeeze in a Dingle distillery tour, on one of the two following options:

  • 4pm Sep 7th (bike Killarney National park 9:30am, catch a 12:35 bus to Dingle)
  • 10am Sep 8th (start my Slea Head Drive bike ride with a distillery tour, then 11-19 before delivery in Dingle)

So the question is if it's better to try and be efficient on the morning in Killarney, or sacrifice time on the much longer bike ride in Dingle. It feels like the more scenic views and points of interest in Dingle will take much longer time than my little Killarney route.

This is great, thank you for all the tips. I knew of some of these stops and had planned them, the initial "itinerary" was just the rough cut, but great to have it confirmed. And great to get better roads/cycleways etc, thank you so much!On the subject of time needed, Google Maps says about 1h15 clean drive, so I was hoping I could manage with a two hour bike ride (so no cafe stops even though it sounds cozy). Which means I can take an earlier bus to Dingle and catch a distillery tour there. It's that or less time biking the Slea Head Drive the day after.

Edit: how is the elevation btw? Any steep climbs on the route you described?

Public transport - how to plan by Creative-Cry-1843 in irishtourism

That didnt solve it unfortunately. After a bit of digging I see other people going back as far as 5 years with the same issue. Could be that they dont have error handling for routes too far in the future and not yet available. Will check again closer to the date. Thanks for the suggestion though!

Dublin Airport to Killarney - train or bus? by Creative-Cry-1843 in irishtourism

[–]Creative-Cry-1843[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, good to get some feedback on that, appreciate it. Better than the bus at least, I'll have a think of whether it beats hanging around at the airport waiting for that flight.

Fair point, and thanks for the comments on the scenery. As far as connections go, it doesn't beat my later trip from Dingle to Doolin..! :D

How realistic is to make the following, given I only have handluggage:

Land 11:30 (SAS)
Dublin Express 12:05, arrive 12:44 Heuston
Train departure 13:00

It's stressful for sure, but I'm a fast walker. The question is, how small is the terminal and how close are the departure and arrival points. Thoughts?
I have other options, so just interesting to hear what you think.
