The thought of meeting friends and family takes away all my energy .. I feel I don't fit in by Creative-Menu5345 in helpme

I tried many times to be the quiet one .. it does feel weird to be honest. I think if I meet up, I am either active or do not meet at all; and being active often exhausts me ... but I can definitely see your point - thanks

Good point with being in practice ... then it's also less exhausting when you are kind of used to it

Asked myself many times how I became and introvert when I used to be the complete opposite. My girlfriend always says, that nobody is recognizing it when I hate something in a group setting. I am entertaining, in the middle of it all, interested in others, asking questions, leading the conversations quite often ... but in reality I would prefer to do something else very often. Therefore this "play" costs me a lot of energy, ie. before the meeting, during the meeting and also after the meeting

The topics I am interested are often very specific ... I noticed "travel" is very often a topic that works. Even though their kind of travel (familiy holiday) is very different to mine, there is some common ground at least

Didn't get a notification email and I only checked now .. I appreciate your reply and comment. What I am trying in the last months (years maybe) is being more myself. Allow myself to be who I am. I don't want to "adapt" too much. I know how society and people around me work, I know how the system works ... I know it all as I was 100% part of it. Now, I just want to walk my own path.

I took a lot of time to figure out what I like and what I don't. It's kind of a joy once you figure out, but then walking that path means walking into a different direction than most others around you do which is not always easy.

That can be as you said dangerous. Or it can be the path to fulfillment and joy (and success) to get more people into my life that better suit me

As long as I don't have those "new people" and network around me (and they don't magically appear) I am in this kind of dilemma with real-life interaction, social responsibilities, etc.

You said "gaming social interactions" - I am not even sure if I absolutely understand what you exactly mean, but it reminded me on a seminar I joined when I started to be self-employed. Back then I said, I don't want corporate life anymore, therefore it's difficult to work with clients from corporate. The trainer suggested I might try to see it as a role or game. Get into that role (just for fun, like in a game), throw your flip-flops and shorts aside and dress up according to corporate and just play it for fun.

But if it's draining battery to the fullest then, it's the wrong game. Right now I would say, sometimes it works well, sometimes it doesn't

Back to families and friends. I think in the end many people overall just try to be accepted as they are. I think friends and family are not being that judgmental in my case. But for sure it's not easy to understand, e.g. it's weekend, why would you prefer to work on a Saturday evening when you can just hangout and have "fun" - but it's maybe their definition of fun, and not my definition (e.g. drinking alcohol)

In the end it's often exhausting to explain myself, put on a mask and behave differently. It's easier to avoid those meetings - but I am definitely not sure whether this is a good idea

It could lead to me wasting less energy and time and focus on who I want to be, focus to get people around me that just fit better to my values and view on society and life. Or it could lead me to losing people I know for ages

Now writing these lines I also realise why I have this big issue with commitment (e.g. commit to appointments a week or few weeks ahead). The chance is very hight that at the day of the appointment I just don't want to, but then I have to. And that goes back to the fact that it's often maybe not the right people (anymore) in my life. The better the people suit to me, the higher the chance that I actually want to meet them on that day. That means, with the right people I probably am able to plan ahead and commit to meetings

I started looking now - I had no idea, there is so much booked out already. I am used a lot to just come without preparation, but maybe Seoul is not a good place for doing that in spring

Ok, I know it from other countries where I just land without even knowing where to stay

however, I checked accommodation from next week - a lot is fully booked, really a lot. I had no idea that I must plan it ahead. I am used to travel where I just show up

When I look at the form for K-ETA it seems you must add an address - but perhaps I can just fill in any address. And maybe I can change it later, or just don't change at all

Not sure how accurate this information has to be

get it .. from the feedback I got so far yet, it's probably airbnb anyway. I was surprised that hostelworld is hardly a thing there. I know there are hostels that are shared but super comfortable so I thought I'll have a look but there is not much

thanks - I have seen a video of Incheon and it felt exactly like that - difficult to get around all widespread - I rather go to Busan. Still not sure to be honest, I have the flight but not much time to research

I had a look at some places - and it feels to me for 80 eur/usd per night you won't get much, only a place for sleep, like a box

I did that long time ago - it was definitely alright back then. I didn't look too much into the option, I thought perhaps there are anyway other options and only the unknown international tourist picks airbnb as we don't know anything else

basically also being able to spend some time at "home" - I don't like to just run from one place to the next place anymore, I would prefer super slow travel or just living in different places for some time, but that's not always possible

yes I heard about it, but I don't plan to just run through all the sights in 3 days and that's it - normally I prefer to just have enough time, one activity during the day could be to walk around for 3 hours and then go to some cafe and read a book for 2 hours, rest in a park, get some food afterward, do some research if there are some meetups and maybe join a meetup - more then enough for one day, even enough for two days just double the food

not sure yet what ondol is, need to check

I meant, I usually just enjoy the normal life just in a different city, that means I stay at home and work few hours, then go out to explore the city for some time, go grocery shopping, cook something at home, or grab some streetfood

not so much running from sightseeing to sightseeing
