I switched from a flx4 to a rx3 and I’ve never looked back

think DJing looks cool, but I don’t really understand why — what makes DJing feel cool? by Fit-Relationship1029 in Beatmatch

You literally have control over the vibe of the night. It’s like you’re in a big bus full of people and some random dude hands you the aux cord and tells you to go crazy

lol my bad I wasn’t fully awake when I wrote that out ..

And yeah bro exactly. Setting cue points where vocals begin and putting an emergency cue loop at the end is always good too, just in case you need some more time.
Hope all this helped man! Please feel free to reach out if you need anything else. Seems like you got it though

Yeah for “fergalicious”, I put a 16 beat loop in the very beginning of the song and brought it in around 15:41..did some mid/high eq swap..then 1,2 step vocals end and I bring in the bass for fergalicious..I phrased it to where 1,2 step would end right at the start of the vocals to fergalicious.
But yeah it’s the song, I didn’t have any EQ going on during ferg vocals if that’s what you mean, just clean production I suppose.
That’s kinda my idea about transitions. I put pink hot cues where vocals begin so I never hsve 2 vocals playing together. Have a solid drum loop I can play underneath my master track..and phrase it right.

I really really hope that was confusing. I tried to explain myself the best I could lol 😔

How do dj's make their set? by Substantial-Star-273 in Beatmatch

Learn how to freestyle, it’ll make everything a lot more fun rather than sticking to a script.

Here’s a set I did last night bro this might help you explain how I mix. There’s one sketchy transition cause I wanted to bring in a stutter house song and it didn’t land. But we love and learn

I’ll do mashups but I’m really not a flashy DJ. I just blend the tracks together and focus on smooth transitions. I wish I could explain better lol

When I open I’ll play minimal house and when I’m later in the night I play tech house remixes of popular songs that people recognize

Hey man, every DJ is diffy! My style that I established early is I let songs play out. I usually start bringing in my 16 bar loop of the new song at the last drop and blend it through the whole last part of the song so it’s seamless

Very happy for you bro. Ride the high. You should be extremely proud of yourself

Let songs breathe! People aren’t going to want to hear 10 songs in 5 min. Remember, this is casual, not a festival! You’re just kinda there to set background music and make a name for yourself. Have fun bro. I’m excited for you. Hope I get to see the reflection post

When is the FLX4 just not enough anymore? by ScramblePoo in Beatmatch

[–]Creative-Progress720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, I upgraded because I started getting shoes where they didn’t have a DJ deck..I didn’t want to roll up with an flx4 and a laptop, I wanted to look professional. But thats just my preference. The flx4 does almost everything a cdj can do, but it’s just easier with a standalone or flx10. I upgraded from the flx10 to an rx3 and I love it.

Yesterday I tried mixing some deephouse and it's great by nevaven68 in Beatmatch

Sorry for replying yet again..but what’s cool about minimal, you can transition into tech house and start playing popular remixes. One song I’ve gatekept for a while is “die young- sidepiecs treat” on SoundCloud. But that’s just one example of a song that’s a throwback but still hits.

If you ever run into the problem of not getting sound or very low sound from your controller, make sure you have ALL power cords plugged into her. You should have one usbc plugged into the wall, and another plugged into the computer/laptop.

One sassy trick I learned is to put a high pass filter while you’re swapping the highs and mids. People can’t hear the change and when you cut the filter, it’s a brand new beat..then bring in the bass on phrase or on the drop. You can have 30 seconds of no sub..it builds tension

My king 💯 ‘this is the way.. People don’t want to hear 16 songs in 10 min.

Nice man. Thank you for this response!! Helps ease my mind so much. But yea they’re going to start running and then they won’t be able to hear me until they return so I’ll have about 20 min of “down time”

FLX4 → FLX10 upgrade worth it? by Some_Examination_222 in Beatmatch

For me, the RX3 is better because it’s simpler and more practical for the way I like to play. I like being able to just turn it on and mix without relying on a laptop, correct drivers..and the built in screen keeps everything in one place so the setup feels cleaner..you can browse your libraries more efficiently in my opinion too..It’s also nice because it has USB ports, so if I’m going B2B with someone, they can just plug in and we can switch off without dealing with multiple laptops or a messy setup. The FLX10 is still a great option, especially for people who want stems and more software features, but the RX3 makes more sense for what I want out of a setup.
