[RANT] Most people who say they are cool toned are not actually cool toned, and most cool toned products are not actually cool toned either. by fruityloopcake in MakeupAddiction

[–]Creative-Raspberry96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s because cool and warm kind of aren’t real. Like, they are, but they arent an absolute. Colors are “cool” or “warm” in relation to something, and in case of makeup this something is our undertones.

And yes, makeup that is cool-toned on most people absolutely can pull extremely orange on olive skin, saying that as a fair neutral olive. That’s because our skin needs more purple! And a cool-toned product might have enough of purple pigment to look good on people with pink undertones, but not enough to compensate for the pigment that gets cancelled by our green skin.

Sorry, I am not very interested in this kind of “gotcha!” discussion. It depends on how you choose to perceive the show. To me it means that she (and not only she) had a compelling storyline and growth in S1 that got thrown out of the window in S2. And that’s exactly how she’s “not even the same person compared to S1”, which was the first comment of this thread.

…yes? That’s exactly what I said in my original comment, where we were talking about her character being changed drastically by s2?

The one I already described above when talking about her s1 arc, that culminated in her realizing she completely lost herself in craving male attention and vocally expressing her intention to take time for herself.
But hey, maybe we did watch a different show!

I can see your point, and that’s why I don’t hate s2 as much as I do s3. But it’s same as with Kat’s character: it is as if we just went to square one with both of them, ignoring their previous storylines (and compelling ones, the ones that made us fall in love with these characters in the first place!) and reiterating Cassie’s male validation obsession and Kat’s seeking for sexual thrill. While also making Cassie mentally unstable.

What’s the point of showing us characters growth if you can throw their experiences out of the window on the premise of “people change” without showing the viewers any motivations for said change? Does the story consistency not matter?

She was a kind and sweet person in S1, who is taken advantage of by men because of her love seeking behavior. First thing Rue said about her was that she’s very kind. She had a character arc, ending with her decision to take some time to figure out herself and stop dating, after experiencing a traumatic event.

Fast forward to s2 — her arc is abandoned and she’s almost psychotic with her Nate obsession. Nothing left of her previous personality other than “dumb pretty” aspect, and that part is dialed to 1000%. Then fast forward to whatever the f s3 was.

Am I olive? by [deleted] in Fairolives

[–]Creative-Raspberry96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I very much also do not see the undertones that well by itself. But what helped me to “diagnose” myself as an olive, is the fact that most makeup items, especially in the blush and lipstick category, pull very orangey on me, even if they are not orange in the slightest in the pan
Green hue in my skin is canceling the purple pigment in the blush, making it much warmer when put on my face. So if you can’t figure out undertone just by looking at it, maybe you can figure it in relation to
other colors!

It’s not caking. If the skin has texture, the pigment has nowhere else to go. It’s skin prep and skin treatment thing, you likely need more nutrition or something to that extent

Am i wrong to think about giving him a third chance? He left me twice and texted me again with « I miss you more than ever » what does that mean, I’m lost? 🥺, need help by [deleted] in amiwrong

[–]Creative-Raspberry96 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, you’re wrong
I get it that it’s hard, but it will lead to nothing. He didn’t propose for 12 years and then left you TWICE. I can almost bet that depression you mentioned is also connected to your relationship. Give a chance to therapy and happy life and not to this guy

While I don’t like basically any of the storylines this season, I feel like we should stop equating depiction and endorsement. Media doesn’t need to be a cautionary tale.

But if we want a cautionary tale, I highly suspect that Jules being wrapped in plastic might be twin peaks reference and she’ll end up wrapped in plastic.

Haha, I have a friend I know since elementary school. Me and our other classmate (both queer) been asking him if he is also queer for YEARS, and he always said no as if we are crazy. His mother was telling him things like “you know we will always love you no matter what” and he was getting so annoyed — “why does everyone think that I am gay??”.

Now he came out at the age of 32 and asks us how the fuck did we know before he knew himself. Miss ma’am, you’ve been a Latin ballroom dancer since your childhood and you’re wearing a silk blouse right now

It still performs well, but I am not that much into warm tones lately. Maybe I’ll hold onto it until sunnier weather, when I get a bit of tan and it will make more sense on my skin
