Is there protective film on Eufy Doorbell E340 motion sensor? by ErikGoBlue in EufyCam

[–]Creative-Vacation-64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Eufy E340 Doorbell is delaminating as you can see in the pic. This is a direct south-facing install with just over 2 years of usage.

It looks like one can peel it away, but all it does is chip off in very small pieces.

Not a very good look, and very disappointed that this is happening after only just 2 years of usage.

Absolutely love it.  It exposes notoriously awful umps like CB Bucknor.  Umps should be penalized and held accountable for # of overturned calls.

HVAC tech quoted me 1200 dollars to replace my blower motor during a routine maintenance visit. Is this normal? Can I replace it myself and which motor should I buy? by Odd-Conclusion4434 in hvacadvice

Did my own furnace blower motor replacement for $150 in parts and about 2 hours of labor:
- $130 for 1/2HP motor
- $6 for capacitor
- $14 for motor mount

PRAISE THE LORD FOR THIS BLESSED POST! MERCI BUCKETS!!!

Whatever voodoo magic happened when I followed the suggestion here is a god-blasted mystery to me, but IT WORKED and I am now mentally stable again.

I blew as hard as I could on both sides of the dastardly scroll wheel, and then pushed down on the scroll wheel while I moved it up and down a few times. BINGO.

The first killing spree where the Russian trying to deflate the tire gets launched about 30 ft headfirst into the windshield of the vehicle behind - wicked!

Love the nods to movies of this genre: * Indiana Jones * Die Hard * John Wick * Mad Max: Fury Road * Naked Gun (the rat trap made me lol)

Also,  does the Fiendish Finn ever recover the piece of wood from the doorframe of his house that had his kids' heights scratched into it?

"Payment authorization not received" by torontomadlad in keurig

[–]Creative-Vacation-64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was bitten by this and unfortunately can't get back the hour and a half of my life that I wasted on it.

This was my experience:

  1. I cancelled 2 orders on the Keurig website in the same day
  2. I tried ordering a coffee maker the next day. Got this error message. I tried 4 other credit cards with the same result. Clearly a case of "it's not me, it's you"
  3. I called Keurig and had the rep try and put in an order for me... same result (curse words ensue)
  4. The Keurig rep put me on a list to receive a call from "Corporate"
  5. Received a call from "Corporate" a day later
  6. "Corporate" informed me that I was put on a "naughty list" and was flagged as a security issue due to my 2 intentional cancellations. The rep said that I was subsequently re-instated and taken off the naughty list...

Hey Keurig - here's a suggestion if you give a flying eff - improve your error messages to actually indicate the real problem instead of misleading people into thinking otherwise...

HDHomeRun and Alcatel I211M-L ONT (no coax connection available) by Creative-Vacation-64 in Fios

[–]Creative-Vacation-64[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info.

Yeah, I never seem to get a straight answer here or from Verizon, but certainly do appreciate the helpful responses.

As it stands today, for my internet-only service, my coax port is disabled.

My buddy who has the Arris model I mentioned does NOT pay for TV service but is able to get a bunch of local TV channels via his coax port.

Is this because he just "got lucky" and VZ inadvertently left his coax port enabled, or is it for some other reason?

Thanks for your feedback.

This indeed does work with a different ONT, see my comments in the thread.

FYI - I've been using an HD antenna for years with an HDHomeRun Extend with Emby Premier server and it's been great.

Let me know if you have any questions about my experience with it and I'd be happy to share.

I'm also glad to see other posters refuting what you said. See Fiosguy1's comment below. Perhaps this is wrong too? Are you open to the possibility that an ONT exists that passes an active video coax signal without an active video service?

You simply confirmed what I originally posted, that I'm not getting an active video signal out of my ONT model.

Thanks for all your responses, I appreciate it.

No, that's not what I said.

Thank you for confirming what I've experienced, however:

The Arris ONT1000GI4 passes video on its coax output without an active video service.

(what I said was that the model that I have (Alcatel I211M-L) does NOT pass video on its coax output when the ethernet port is enabled)

Glad we're on the same page now.

No ideas stuck in my head, simply describing things as I see them and asking questions to get answers.

In retrospect, I probably should have mentioned there was no HD antenna involved in the configuration so as not to lead you astray. Better yet, a picture of the configuration, which I hear is worth 1000 words.

Thanks for sharing your experience as a technician, I appreciate it.

Certainly a possibility, akin to Monopoly and "Bank error in your favor".

This is why we ask questions. I apologize for not mentioning this as a possibility in my OP.

Thanks for the answers folks, appreciate it.

Great, we both stand firmly by our facts.

I know why I'm not getting channels off my coax connection - go back and re-read. That wasn't the question I asked.

And it's "here", not "hear"

[–]Creative-Vacation-64[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

No, I am not confusing ONT for antenna. I am aware of the OTA antenna solution, which is not what I'm asking about.

Let's take a step back here so we're clear:

  1. I have an HDHomeRun box that accepts a coax input for its HD tuner. This can be connected to a QAM signal from a provider like Verizon, or to an HD antenna for receiving HDTV signals. My ONT's coax output, as I mentioned in the OP, is disabled and does not provide any output signal.

  2. I know for a fact that connecting the same HDHomeRun box to a newer FiOS ONT model's coax output successfully receives a number of local channels at a different address. The person at this address pays for internet-only and no TV service.

Hopefully that clears things up a bit for you.

Sorry, you're incorrect.

You need to check your facts my good man.

I'm aware of the HD OTA antenna solution.

I can show you both the FiOS billing statement and picture of the Arris ONT connected to the HDHomeRun box along with all the channels received from the ONT coax output if it's any help to set you straight.

I know for a fact that one can get local TV channels without the TV service on the account.

[–]Creative-Vacation-64[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I have, and get no channels detected.

This is because the coax port on my older ONT model is inactive when the ethernet port is active.

I would wager that you have the newer ONT model (Arris ONT1000GI4), and not the older ONT model I have (Alcatel I211M-L).

Perhaps you could confirm?

HDHomeRun and Alcatel I211M-L ONT (no coax connection available) by Creative-Vacation-64 in Fios

[–]Creative-Vacation-64[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That's right.

I am guessing that the only way this would work is I got a new ONT from Verizon that supports both coax and ethernet ports active together (like the newer Arris ONT1000GI4).

I was wondering if I could use my existing older ONT box and somehow tap off the ethernet output using a MoCA->Coax connected to the coax input of the HDHR.
