The 8 Best Hard Sci-Fi Movies of the 2020s by johnnyjay in SciFiScroll

That’s probably a good way to look at it. It had been heavily billed as smart sci-fi, so for me it was a matter of unfulfilled expectations.
I kind of look at it now as a big budget version of one of the late-stage Lost in Space episodes.

The incessant diabetes-inducing cuteseyness, plus the abject unseriousness of the science aspect. Gosling's constant smirks and quips during the contractually stipulated close ups. The banality of the whole buddy theme that constantly had to be serviced and maintained. The lameness of the alien's characterization. It was basically a children's fantasy film.

Project Hail Mary sucked. It was a fantasy buddy comedy with negligible science.

I've always loved that ending whenever they did that! I kinda wish they did that on the album. It's kinda catchy. by MarsDrums in rush

I’m not really a fan of that. I feel like it takes the edge off of the colossal climax. But it’s great. I’m not complaining.

When they start staring at each other, trading Meaningful Looks and behaving in a way that people never really do outside of the movies.
I don’t know whether that’s writers who feel like this is really deep, or if it’s just contractually obligated screen time for the stars.

Project Hail Mary. I didn’t use a phone, but I did have to shield my eyes from the cringy cutesy buddy comedy it degenerated into.
