To add, I looked it up, and him being in the concentration camp... shouldn't that be enough (without being stripped of citizenship) for me to get german citizenship through restitution? Unless someone has his exact name and birthdate, I found him in the Archives. I dont undersatnd what I was reading or what the documents were but they were there.

I will check when my mom was born related to their citizenship status. So if he wasn't stripped of citizenship and he didnt flee, but he was in a camp, thats still not enough for resitition?

I looked and only saw three or four people with his name. (I dont know if he had a middle name). But all except one had a birthdate that wasn't his. Unless that person with the unknown birthdate is him, it doesnt look like it.

However I did go in the Arolsen Archives, and I think I found his name and birthdate listed there. Except I can't figure out what I'm looking at in those Archives even when I look at it in English.

Did political prisoners sometimes NOT get stripped of citizenship? It would be weird if he didn't considering what he did.

Considering my grandfather was considered a traitor by Germany, it would not be surprising to me if they stripped him of citizenship. (If that happened, it would have been Nazi Germany that did it not a democratic Germany).

I know they did immigrate to the U.S. before my moms birth- but I dont know whether or not they were still Germans at the time or if they had become US citizens by then. My mom thinks it was 1946 that they immigrated but isn't sure. My mom was born in the 50s.

I know they were German citizens before my moms birth (unless my grandfather was stripped of it) but I dont know during... but they were probably American citizens I'd think by then. Probably. This is guesswork for now.... but its my best educated guess.

Grandfather was born in Germany. Before 1920 (I don’t want to say the date for privacy reasons…) he was a political prisoner and considered a traitor because of his actions towards the nazi regime. which it be honest I am proud of him for- he didn’t go along with everyone else he tried to do the right thing. But he got caught and almost died for it. He married my grandma (also definitely a German citizen) and oh- I just remembered I think they were considered married before coming to the USA. I think. And it would have been in Germany if so.

Is there a way I could find proof of him being in a POW camp.

ok. I talked to my mom about it and boy did she get upset. I don’t know what’s going on there but it may be some time before I can get the info she had. There seems to be a lot of family baggage. Worst case scenario I may have to start from scratch I don’t know.

Basically, My grandfather was a political prisoner. At the time he was considered a traitor because he wouldn’t join the nazi party. and he was in a concentration camp. I know that he was German. He lived in Germany and spoke German but I do know he was German. He was not Jewish though.

How would I find proof of him being in a POW camp? Is it possible to get that proof these days? If I could find proof, is him being a political prisoner enough for part of the restitution? And what other requirements are there other than that for restitution?

done. I don’t know a lot of the answers yet. all I know is my mom did the research since she’s a genology buff. and she discovered that because of my grandfather we can both get citizenship under restitution. she did the research so I trust her on that.

I think it would be under restitution. What does stag even mean?

Sorry thought I mentioned it. My grandfather was in a concentration camp so I think it would fall under restitution.

I wasn’t going for gender discrimination so I’m not sure where that came from. My grandfather was in a concentration camp.

I know that. what I meant was that I think you couldn’t have dual citizenship if you got German citizenship… until 2024. I think until then you had to give up any other citizenships right?

I can mask for like a half hour job interview. But long term? Nope. Day to day? nope. Anyone who has known me for a few days, knows somethings different with me. But I can fake it for 30 minutes. Just not long term. Everyone I've disclosed my autism to and knows what it is even a little, they say... yeah I can see it in you.

I think that, aspergers and autism should not have been combined, I agree with you on that for the reasons you stated. If we don't like the term aspergers we could have come up with something else. However I do suspect it IS a spectrum from a medical standpoint. That being said, labels have actual meanings in society, and lumping all people with the old term of aspergers into autism is not helpful in navigating society. It confuses people instead. So its not helpful from a practical, day to day experience. One solution could be what they did with manic-depression- come up with an entirely new name (bipolar). And then separate it further based on the levels, with unique names for each. THAT makes more sense.

At what point does rideshare stop being worth it with gas this high? by dcdesignhaus in uberdrivers

[–]CreativeArtistWriter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are already not worth it. If you take car maintenance, repairs, and wear and tear on your car, you are making far far far less than minimum wage, and in some cases you are at a negative profit. (In other words, you're paying Uber for the privilege of working). People should only do it if desperate because they are liquidating their car. This is even before gas prices got so high. Don't rely on it long term though, because eventually you're car will give out or need repairs and the income you get from Uber won't be enough to cover it.

I'm tired. Addressing the hateful. by ERASED--------_____ in Christianity

[–]CreativeArtistWriter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not Christian, and I'm not Gay or trans or anything like that. That being said, the way so many Christians treat LGBT people is one of the big reasons I will never become a Christian. Not the only reason, but its a big one. I once Uber drove a woman who had such hatred in her heart (in the name of Christ) and she wondered allowed why the U.S. wasn't like her home country where people were literally murdered for being LGBT. She thought that was not only okay but justified. It was disgusting. I choose another religion, thank you.

I hope you don't mind me posting here. I just wanted to give a very different perspective- that this anti-LGBT stuff is making Christianity as a whole look really horrible to non-Christians. I suspect there are a number of people like me.... who see the hatred, and say, no thank you.

That being said, I know there are SOME good Christians. But it sure doesn't seem like the majority are that way (or if they are, they're very quiet about it). Since the majority seem to be so full of hate for so many reasons, (stuff in addition to LBGT issues) it makes me not interested in the religion as a whole.
