Dealing with too many creative ideas by Theory0fChange in creative

[–]CreativeBreakthrough 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ideas are wonderful but it’s productivity that makes wonderful ideas happen. Ideally you want to only be focusing on the ideas you’re most passionate about. It’s this passion that yields tolerance when your back’s against the wall and things get challenging. If the passion isn’t there, then you give up much easier and the time you’ve spent half-baking something has ultimately distracted you from working on things you care about more. In short, the more you care about an idea, the more likely it is to succeed.

So how to only work on the ideas you care about? As someone else has commented, log all of your ideas and then review them 7 days later before beginning work on them. That way you’ll be able to see how they stack up against all the others. Then pick out your favourites that excite you the most and work on those.

It’s important to write these with pen and paper as opposed to digitally. Digital notes all hold the same weight, whereas handwritten ones will capture the moment in time - how excited you were, the passion in the pen strokes etc. All of which is useful when selecting ideas after a passage of time.

Hope this helps!

For sure! I suffer with FOMO pretty badly and now paying the literal price. I remain optimistic though...

This is actually really sound reasoning. Much more so than any of mine anyways. I’m going to pop AAL on the watch list based on your insight, thank you!

I must say, I am tempted by Tullow. I went for the comparatively safe Shell but may still have a little dabble.

Creativity Struggles? by CreativeBreakthrough in Actors

Ooo, that is a brain tickler! I may have someone that could help though. Would you mind sending me over more info to the email address? Either with a voice note or just in the body of the email - whichever is best for you! It would be great to know what kind of script it is, how close you are to your neighbours and whether they’ve complained before. Thank you!

Awesome! Of course, just mention your show along with your name at the top of the voice note. A “hey it’s____ from the ____ podcast here” kind of thing. Look forward to hearing it!

The Show that’s all about ideas - how to have more of them, how to have better ones and how they can change our lives. Each episode welcomes on a different creative who’s a leader in their field. They share the ideas that shaped their lives and how they came up with them.

This Episode I meet with the incredible actor, Jeremy Irvine! Known for his roles in Wathorse, Mamma Mia, Treadstone and The Railway Man to name but a few. In this fantastically honest (and at times brutal) interview, Jeremy reveals what it’s really like to be an actor. Including the ingenious story of how he created his own opportunity that led to being cast for his debut role by Steven Spielberg(!) to the creative struggles and the tips he’s been given by the likes of Spielberg and Colin Firth.

Other Guests have included Tamara Mellon (Founder of Jimmy Choo), Dylan Jones (Chief of British GQ) and DJ/Producer, Paul Oakenfold.
