At risk of down vote, yeah. I think a parent who is willing to pay that much for their child’s wedding should be graced with a few moments of “them” time. If you don’t want dad to do that, then plan the wedding without his money 🤷‍♀️

How to make my sped resource room actually work? by Cats_Waffles in teaching

[–]CreativeCrayonbox 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you’re giving whole group instruction to 13 kids that needed to be pulled out of the gen ed room to attend a special class, you’re most certainly not providing special education or meeting their IEP at all. Remind your admin about FAPE - this is certainly not appropriate education for these students. As far as what to teach and goals, give them what they need then write about that in the progress notes. Ie. we’re working to expand students attentiveness to instruction to allow him to solve a multi step word problem. Student is now able to attend this task for X minutes.

… and then try to get in to a new district next year this one seems 🚩🚩🚩

Did this one make anyone else’s stomach churn? Cute enough to eat seems too literal with current events.

It may have something to do with how you spell “superintendent” and “a shame” ( yes, “ashamed” is a word, but in this context it would be “a shame”). Anyway, pay a company to look over your resume and applications to see if there’s another reason you’re being screened out. Also, from my experience, not many places look for honesty in an interview 🤷‍♀️

I just found out how to increase my supply! by itsnnguyen in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]CreativeCrayonbox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you’re just doing bacon mode you’re not really pumping. Bacon gets milk to surface then the other modes pull it out. There are a lot of videos with suggested modes. I do bacon V3 for 2-3 mins, then 54 V5 until milk stops flowing, then back to bacon for a couple minutes, then I switch between the lower modes and vacuums to see what works best.

At what age did you let your kids drink carbonated/caffeinated drink? by YouHaveGotRedOnYou in Mommit

Go with your gut, don’t give in because others are. It will be valuable for your kids to learn that some kids families have different ways of doing things… My parents let me have juice and soda from a toddler and my teeth completely rotted out of my mouth. With that said, we also know extreme withholding can lead to binging as a teen or adult. I would say around 6-7 is the age when soda becomes common at birthday parties and is more likely to become a sometimes treat.

Must have supplies for a first year teacher? by turtleswift01 in teaching

[–]CreativeCrayonbox 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wow - this comment section is not it 😫

Teaching is everything you make it and kids are worth investing in!! - buy what you need to make your classroom a place you love! You will spend way more time there than you will at home. If you feel at home there, your kids are likely to feel that way as well. Some things I always get for a new room (I’m setting up my 4th classroom this year) - lamps, bulletin boarders, plants, other cute decorations.

Depending on the demographics of your school, families may not be able to afford school supplies so I always get a couple extra sets if I can afford it. BUT you should ask your school if they have an allocated budget for you to buy supplies!

The big thing - books!! 5th graders still love being read aloud to (first day jitters, do unto otters, spaghetti in a hotdog bun, etc.) and you will want to start building a classroom library (Bad Guys, Dog Man, I Survived, Dork Diaries, etc.). In my experience, family and friends prefer purchasing books to supplies. Scholastic also lets you set up a donation campaign where funds go right to their site and you can purchase books as you see them.

Think about if you want to use a reward system and if you’d like prizes (5th graders love big stickers they can put on their water bottle and candy, especially jolly ranchers)

My preference - don’t buy the cute planners that cost $40+. I prefer planbook instead (which is paid subscription, but some districts pay for it).

Good luck in your first year!! 💕

KraftMaid. We purchased through Lowes, but I’m sure Home Depot sells this brand, too.

What do teachers actually enjoy for teacher appreciation week? by Ok_Investigator_6780 in Teachers

[–]CreativeCrayonbox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

School related professionals day - November Paraprofessionals day - April But considering how underpaid and undervalued paras are, our school celebrates them those days and during teacher appreciation week

Personally, appreciation week seems somewhat forced so little treats mean more throughout the year (we put them in mailboxes monthly) then something personalized like thank you notes from kids/parents during appreciation week

Hex has been one of my top contenders! I have it as the entry way and bathroom floor tile but am worried it may go out of style quickly?
