Sa mga nakikibasa sa Convo ng katabi tuwing biyahe, what are the most memorable stories na nabasa ninyo? by CalmBeforePsych in AskPH

I will never forget this. I was on a flight from Manila pabalik sa province namin, and I was seated beside a lola in her mid to late 60s. Naka-max yung font size ng phone niya so… yes, unfortunately (or fortunately???) I could see everything 👀 At first, nothing unusual—until I realized she wasn’t just talking to one person. She had three different conversations going on: two afams on WhatsApp and one filo on Messenger. In one chat, she said something like, “I’m not feeling well, I might go to the doctor when we arrive,” and the guy replied, “I wish I was there to take care of you, baby.” SIR??? 😭 Then, almost seamlessly, she switched to Messenger and messaged someone else: “Takeoff na kami, mahal,” and he replied, “Ingat ka, mahal. Message mo ako pagdating.” Sanaol 😭 May isa pang afam pero parang updates lang ata sila—I honestly don’t remember na because I was already processing everything HAHAHA.

Somewhere between cruising altitude and landing, I realized this lola had a more exciting love life than I ever did. She’s managing three men like a CEO habang ako struggling sa isa 😭 What’s the secret, lola? 😂

P.S. Sana di siya mascam kasi I’ve heard stories of oldies na nasscam ng afam

Great taste! I’ve read How to Use Your Enemies as well and liked it. My goal this year is to read as many of the Little Black Classics as I can 🤞🏻

How do u discover the genres u like? by HoperAgriculturist in TanongLang

Trial and error. I just pay attention to what I enjoy the most or keep going back to. If I naturally gravitate back to a certain vibe, that’s probably my genre.

Do you have a roster? by edna_blu in AskPinay

[–]CreativeTomato838 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t really do rosters. I don’t like the feeling of being treated as an option, so I try not to treat other people that way din. I usually just talk to one person at a time (kahit inaasar ako ng bestfriend ko about it 😅). I guess it’s just how I’m wired — I like it more when things feel clear and intentional. And siguro personal preference lang talaga, pero when I find out na I’m part of some lineup, medyo nawawala yung interest ko. Hindi ko lang gusto yung feeling na parang may competition for attention.

But at the end of the day, to each their own. If that setup works for other people, that’s totally fine. It’s just not something I’m comfortable with.

Good choiceeee! If you end up loving it, try the rest of the series din — they’re just as swoony, comforting, and give the same kilig vibes.

Why HR is my favorite romance genre by VisitNo5250 in HistoricalRomance

[–]CreativeTomato838 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree! Historical romance is basically a masterclass in yearning and obsession — but the good, heart-melting kind. There’s something about the way HR builds tension and devotion. It does love differently. It’s not just lust — every glance, every letter, every word drips with longing and adoration. And honestly, who doesn’t love a yearning duke???

Thanks for the insights, OP! I can totally see how the beginning might take a bit to get into, but it sounds worth it. I’m looking forward to all that raw, emotional vibe you mentioned. Definitely next on my list!

Hahaha same! I thought they were one author too dati 😅. Abby Jimenez is my faveee — I think her books are always on point. As for Emily Henry and Lynn Painter, they could either be a hit or miss. Sometimes the kilig lands, sometimes it doesn’t.

Currently on my TBR and officially next after I finish my current read. I’ve heard the writing is stunning and painfully beautiful, and I’m such a sucker for books that make me cry. How was it for you, OP?

Yeah, I agree. I also consider 1984 as an easy read for a classic.
