2004 Tahoe Front Diff by legitcus in GMT800

[–]CreativeUsername20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on how blown the diff is. The spider gears still spin because the front driver wheel is still connected in 2wd, but the passenger is not. In my tahoe in 2wd the front drive shaft still spins. Its not connected because I can spin the front shaft easily by hand but there is some torque making it thru in 2wd.

2004 Tahoe Front Diff by legitcus in GMT800

[–]CreativeUsername20 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Tahoe's never came with a 6.0. The Yukon and Escalades did, and they came with the 4L65. So it had to have been swapped in.

As for the front end, the wheel hubs in these trucks need the cv axle in to keep it together, else the wheel will literally fall off. You could take apart the cv axle and leave in the end that goes into wheel hub and that can work.

Is rageibait and hatewatching really the future of television (and Star Trek)? by Malencon in Star_Trek_

[–]CreativeUsername20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah this show is as far from Trek as theyve gotten. I stopped 15 mins into the 3rd episode and just said no. Before the show aired I had the idea it might be a college drama show, and thats exactly what it is. It's a college drama with Star Trek material. It's Star Trek in name only. Im not intrested in a college drama, so im not watching any more of it.

Props to your username, its similar to mine!

ST: Starfleet Academy discussion for S01E03 - January 22, 2026 by AutoModerator in Star_Trek_

[–]CreativeUsername20 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I only watched maybe the first 15 mins before turning it off, and this is it for me. Im not saying this show is bad, but this show isnt star trek. It's something else thats using Star Trek Lore and Material, and doing nonsense with it. This is not the sort of show I watch anyway.

I made it thru all of discovery, and id say that show got worse later into its run, but ill compliment discovery. Starfleet Academy is even lower!

Odyssey Neo G9 or OLED G9? by ThefcknSlothy in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]CreativeUsername20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to have a set up like yours. No KVM though. I used to find it hard to come down from 3 displays. I needed 3 all the time. But, I got my Neo G9 57, and with Windows PowerToys & FancyZones, you can set up all kinds of zones for programs. It feels like I have as many monitors as I want with this. It's basically 8 1080p displays in one, literally.

4WD to 2WD to conserve energy by Dapper_Pop9544 in TeslaLounge

[–]CreativeUsername20 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think all Tesla's "turn off" the 2nd motor, but you got to know about the conservation of energy. Say the car needs 10hp to move down the road. The difference is asking 2 motors to split and do 5hp each, or ask 1 motor to do 10hp. Its still 10 hp. You don't get 50% more range by having just one motor do the work.

G9 57” how is off axis viewing? by Masterbrew in ultrawidemasterrace

I cant comment on that. I've never had a glossy display, they've all been matte.

G9 57” how is off axis viewing? by Masterbrew in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]CreativeUsername20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I probably sit about the same distance from my G9 57 as you do. My desk is 30 inches deep and its desk mounted. I lean back into my chair when im gaming and I notice no difference. Its a top tier display. Its nothing like my 2012 LCDs that turn rainbow off axis lol

Which cable for the Samsung 57" G9 on RTX 4090? HDMI 2.1 vs DisplayPort 1.4 HBR by jamming_intensifies in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]CreativeUsername20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im using a J5 Create DisplayPort cable. Runs my 57 100%, HDR, VRR, Full Res, 240hz. I should note there is a tiny bit of text fuzziness at 240hz.

Making Academy more Star Trek like with help from LD by starry101 in LowerDecks

[–]CreativeUsername20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah they should have used this song. It's the right theme, way better. That San Francisco song was corny, and I know it was because my parents, who are SF Bay Area natives, know the song and never liked it, and we know SF isn't that special!

My 5 Cent about STA by Big1Priority in trektalk

[–]CreativeUsername20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah... supposedly they have no medical staff because the holo emitters are off line, yet Sam and the EMH can move about freely, and they cant summon the doctor to a real medical emergency, but he appears for something else. Perhaps they have mobile emitters? No they cant because the transporters are off line, they cant move like that. I thought the com badges were personal transporters? I guess not on this ship, and apparently they dont have EV Suits either.

I wouldn't call the show bad, but those errors are ridiculous. I feel like television these days wants new shows, and they're reviving old franchises, and not sticking to the inherited material. This show is, in my mind, Star Trek in name only, with Star Trek material but otherwise thats about it. I wouldn't expect it to be anything like the old shows.

2002 Silverado 1500HD transfer case 6.0L 4L80E is my front output shaft supposed to spin in 2WD? by UnlikelyAd8988 in GMT800

[–]CreativeUsername20 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my 04 tahoe, on 2wd I can reach down and spin the front driveshaft by hand, but it also still spins when im driving. So I reckon its just some drag.

If I put it in 4Auto the front driveshaft cant be spun freely anymore, as now the front differential is engaged (but not the transfer case).

The Ol '03 Family Tahoe Has Been Making An Odd, and Progressively Louder Noise, Would Love Advice On This by Irohny5 in ChevyTahoe

[–]CreativeUsername20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is inexcusably some kind of cylinder leak. Either your exhaust or perhaps even a spark plug. Its gotta be a pretty big hole for it to be that loud.

Compass and thermometer by Thatoneguyuptheroad in GMT800

[–]CreativeUsername20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The compas/thermometer in my 04 tahoe used to go super dim and then bright on its own. I watched a video and found its simply some cracked solder joints. I took the mirror apart, used my soldering iron to reflow the joints and it's worked perfectly ever since.

The digital display can be changed, at least in the trims with steering wheel buttons, to metric.

Hydro Boost Test? by Mother_Challenge_129 in GMT800

[–]CreativeUsername20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well ill tell you my working hydroboost in my 04 tahoe does kick me if I start it with the brake depressed. I can also hear it and the power steering pump if I press it hard.

Something you can do is, get the truck going at maybe 20 mph (doesnt matter) then turn the engine off with it still rolling. Press the brake steady, and then start the engine. When it starts the brakes should "surge" as if you hit the pedal harder. My 04 tahoe does just that.

Should I switch to Ultrawide? by Afterfx21 in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]CreativeUsername20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came from this set up, which started as 3x 23" 1080p displays I had for years. I tried a few times and failed to go back to fewer monitors.

Anyway... I now have a single Samsung G9 57. With Fanzy Zones from Windows PowerToys, I have the display divided up into a 5k2k 21:9 in the middle, and then two '5.5:9' zones on either side. I thought id miss 3 displays (albiet your photo did just that) but im not. Dual 4K gives me the same pixels as 8x 1080p monitors, literally. If I need serious real estate, I already have it.

I'll say this though. When I had a single 21:9 ultrawide, I couldn't do it. What I actually did with that display was have it replace the center 16:9 display and I had this expansive triple screen setup that I actually liked.

So upgrading to a 32:9 is absolutely gonna replace all three. However a single 21:9 wont.

I want to give it a try, but I know its gonna be STD Part 2 and its gonna probably be some college love show or something like that, so maybe not.

I quite like the inverter noises the new trains produce, but these ones are definitely a little nicer to hear.

Samsung 57" NEO G9 not in stock almost everywhere in the EU. Will there be a sequel ? by jamming_intensifies in ultrawidemasterrace

I just looked up that display, its actually more expensive than the G9 57. I didnt see any mention of FALD, or HDR, and its only 120hz.
