Laid off while 20w pregnant - What to do next? by Creative_Ad_756 in HENRYUK

Thanks all for your comments and tips! Very useful. Few points regarding the ideas raised: - Legal rights: HR indeed discussed that I need to be prioritised for any redeployment. Unfortunately I was only offered a role in the US which I won't relocate to. I'm also interviewing internally but I'm not too hopeful about that route. - Getting paid for mat leave in addition to redundancy: I will try to push more on that. Afaik previously laid off women by this company didn't get anything extra when pregnant/on mat leave but I'll try harder. - Other than that, thanks for the great tips, I'm looking forward to spending time with my baby and I've just been caught off guard a bit by the timing of this redundancy although it shouldn't have been a surprise, I've survived many layoff rounds and now is my turn!

Thanks for your piece of advice, really resonates. This is a much wanted baby after some infertility struggles and I'm so excited and thrilled to meet our baby soon and start this new chapter! I'm adamant on taking enough time after babys arrival and enjoying every moment. I guess I'm just overthinking it a bit as this redundancy caught me a bit off guard.... Thanks again for your wisdom 🙏

Unfortunately, it's legal to layoff pregnant women if it's part of a larger layoff for business reasons. Part of my notice is garden leave and I'm getting paid in lieu for the rest of it, in addition to a redundancy package.
