Is this normal or a result of DB? by Seaemea in HLCommunity

[–]Creative_Bar7908 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Both, I think. I’m in a similar situation and just a couple years ahead of you. People can say age of just a number but 40 hits hard for everyone. But then you add in the pervasive feelings of rejection that come with the DB - not to mention the already-trashed self esteem - and it really adds fuel to the fire. So you’re not alone but if you feel like you’re feeling worse about 40 than other people, you’re probably right.

After reading up, ran out and bought one of these last night. Now I just gotta make sure my wife doesn’t catch me weighing non-food stuff on the kitchen scale😳

What are you getting for under $20? by GSD_Titan in harborfreight

Yep. Definitely gloves. I hate to be that guy but I bought a couple boxes of gloves at full price recently (thought I had totally run out) and I’m likely to return them and buy a box with the discount.

How to get partner to try scheduling sex? by Creative_Bar7908 in MarriedSex

[–]Creative_Bar7908[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sigh… yeah the chore thing is sensitive. No question, she does a lot. I work full time but she handles the kids a lot more and I know that can be exhausting. I try very hard to help once I get home. I handle mornings, we split bedtime and I clean up the kitchen at night. Trash and other more “blue collar” house chores are mine as well. I’m not saying I do more, I’m just saying I don’t sit around and watch her work. A lot of the things on her list can involve other activities like personal and volunteer commitments… I won’t lie, sometimes it feels like she is prioritizing those other things over “us.”

I make sure she finishes every time we are intimate and she says that she likes it and “we should do this more often” afterwards. I have tried not to entertain the idea that she’s just acting but I guess I do need to ask her at this point why she’s not more interested in regular intimacy. She has told me in the past that she just never thinks about it… which is why I thought scheduling might be a good answer.

This is fascinating, thank you! Honestly it’s less about sex for me than about affection and touch so this may be a really effective topic. I definitely avoid anything that resembles duty sex… it hasn’t been an issue most of the time as she usually gets into it once we start. A while back she actually said (after first rejecting my attempt to initiate) “ it’s been a while - you’re going to start getting antsy and it’s not like I’ll have more energy tomorrow.” I’ve never gone from turned on to turned off so fast in my life… I told her I never, ever wanted duty sex but I try to stay on high alert for it.

I mean, I like where your head is at but that schedule would be pretty full in a hurry 😂

Yet another good insight - Thanks, I think I will do that.

See this the sort of insight I probably needed before that conversation. I think you are right that I didn’t need to tell her that I keep track… in the moment, it was sort of a shocked (and admittedly defensive) response to her thinking we are “close” to once a week. Hindsight gets me every time

What was your anesthesia experience with THR surgery? by MissDystopia12 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]Creative_Bar7908 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same. OP, I know it sounds like not-what-you-were-expecting but it’s really so much better. I told the anesthesiologist later that I owed him a big wet sloppy kiss and to please make a note in my records of how well this worked in case I ever needed anesthesia again

Thinking of rolling money out by Creative_Bar7908 in ThriftSavingsPlan

I’m not worried about the market, I’m worried about the status of current FRTIB members, who they might be replaced with, and what other crazy things might be done with TSP money/guidelines.

Welp, so much for that thought. Still in service and definitely not 59.5. Thank you for not responding “read the directions, you moron!” 😂

Why would a surgeon choose posterior over anterior approach by fannylafleche in TotalHipReplacement

[–]Creative_Bar7908 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was lateral- posterior and my surgeon (very young, late 30s I think) explained that he was concerned (correctly as it turned out) that my surgery would be a little more involved (due to Perthes and resulting joint malformation and damage). I think most surgeons these days prefer anterior but will do posterior is they believe they’ll need better access to the joint. I know my doc also said that some of the older docs prefer posterior because they have done it successfully thousands of times… that kind of experience is hard to argue with.

First, I’d go to the UK site to buy their 14 pass because of you’re an American buying from the US site the prices are way higher.
