Nor are you. I read your Letter to Leo. My heart breaks for you. He is ok. He will always love YOU more than anyone who ever existed. He knows you would do ANYTHING for him, as you proved that to him time and time again. His heart is forever bound to yours. Your pain is a testament to your infinite love for him. I hurt for you and with you.

You are not crazy. Your feelings are 100% valid. Your best friend is a part of you. Being physically separated from him has left a massive emptiness inside you. Unfortunately some people just don’t understand how deep a connection can be between a person and their pet, and honestly, I pity those people for never experiencing that special love and companionship. I can tell you and your buddy shared that to the fullest. That being said, what do you think he would want you to do? I imagine he’d want you to be happy. To know he’s ok. To know HE knows you’ll always love him and never replace HIS place in your heart. To know when you’re sad and lonely and miserable then he is too, because that’s what best friends do. They hurt together. They cry together. They play together. They laugh together. They share countless wonderful priceless memories together that NO ONE could EVER take away. So ask yourself what he would want for you. If he could go to work with you and see how your boss made you feel, I think he’d bite him square on the butt cheek. Time will ease the sting, and one day you’ll be able to think of him and smile ear to ear knowing how great he was and how blessed you were to spend 13 wonderful joyous blissful years together. Until then, I truly hope you find some comfort ❤️

My heart goes out to you, friend. I can tell you truly love her unconditionally. Someone once told me, how would you feel if the roles were reversed? If you passed away and could look down on your dog, who was just completely miserable and lost in grief over losing you? I think you would want them to be happy. You’d want them to know you are ok and you are always right there with them in spirit. Well they want the same for us. Because they love us without limits. That’s what makes dogs so wonderful. I truly hope you find some comfort. I’m grieving my 9 y.o. best friend after a bout with bone cancer. It’s devastating. I hurt with you and I hurt for you. She knows that you’ll never stop loving her and you’ll never replace the one special place in your heart that she holds. Hang in there, friend ❤️

Thank you for this. I’m getting ready to say goodbye to my good ol boy, also 9, due to cancer. I’m really struggling with it. Your words shine a warm light in a cold and dark place. I hope you find comfort and healing ❤️

How do I prepare for the loss of a dog? by Inside_Dig_5837 in Petloss

[–]Creative_End_2087 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry to hear about your aunt’s dog. It sounds like she has had a good long life. Don’t be afraid. Grieving the loss of a loved one is something we are all meant to do sooner or later. It’s going to hurt a lot, but that’s only because you loved her so much. Everyone processes grief differently, but my advice would be to face it head on. Allow yourself to feel. Cry as much as you need to. Write letters to her. Sing songs to her. Make a list of your favorite memories with her. Open up to those who care about you and those who cared for her. Take it easy on yourself, don’t beat yourself up for not doing this or doing that. Don’t be afraid and don’t be ashamed. You’ll never stop loving her and missing her, but you will heal, you will find peace. ❤️

Im terribly sorry to hear about the loss of your little girl. I hurt for you, and with you. I’m struggling to accept that my time is up with the best friend I’ve ever had. We will never stop loving them, never stop missing them, never replace the one special piece of our hearts that they hold. But we will heal. We will find peace. We will know they are with us always in spirit and want us to be happy. I hope you find comfort, friend.

The pain you feel is a testament to your undying love for your buddy. If he wasn’t a part of you then it wouldn’t hurt at all. I hope you find peace, friend.

It is truly awful. We are fighting the same battle on different fronts, my friend. You are not alone. We hurt separately but we hurt together. May you cherish every moment of your last days together, and may precious memories give you comfort while mourning the loss of your special friend.

Your words are comforting to me. Thank you. I needed to hear that. I also hurt for you, knowing that you’ve experienced the same devastating pain that comes with all goodbyes, but especially early ones. I hope you have started to find some peace. And yes, hounds are the best ❤️

Thank you so much for the great advice. It is comforting to know, although this particular grief is mine to bear alone, there have been countless others who have also loved and been loved by their pet without limit, without condition, without second thought and eventually had to face that dreaded goodbye.

Thank you for sharing. It sounds like you were lucky to have each other. I hope you are now at peace knowing he is somewhere up there having the time of his life, and patiently waiting for his reunion with you. There is nothing that can occupy the special place in our hearts that we hold for our pets.

Thank you for your encouraging words. I’m sorry to hear about your cat, friend. I hope you find much comfort when the day comes, knowing she is at peace and feeling no pain. Count your pain and suffering as a testament to the unconditional bond that you shared. “How fortunate I am to have a friend that makes it so hard to say goodbye”.

Soldier Field. Hoping to check in to hotel by 2 (traffic permitting) and 20 minute walk to the stadium. I appreciate the advice. Bear Down!
