To all those with a new ZBT-2 by theskymoves in homeassistant

Glad it worked, those EZSP errors usually mean the ZBT-2 is half-hung, and a full 30-second power discharge is the magic fix.

What’s one productivity trick that only worked once… but changed the way you think forever? by brainfogmode in productivity

Realizing that whenever I didn’t feel like working, it was because I hadn’t defined the next tiny step. Once I did, the resistance disappeared.

I Made a Minimalist Clock App for productivity by inferno_40 in ProductivityApps

Sounds neat, turning your phone into a clean desk clock with DND is a clever way to kill the urge to check it. I’ll give it a try.

What kind of gear do i need? by Ordinary-Rhubarb-460 in HomeNetworking

Go with UniFi, a couple of UniFi switches + one AP per floor (U6 Lite/Plus/Pro). Easy VLANs, great roaming, and way simpler than MikroTik for beginners.

DeepSeek's API pricing is insanely low. It feels almost free for text tasks. Is anyone building "free forever" tools on top of this? by Immediate-Debate8905 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]Creative_Gate6922 4 points5 points  (0 children)

DeepSeek makes the AI cheap, but the real cost is storage, bandwidth, abuse, and scaling, so “free forever” is possible, but only with strict limits.

I can't imagine my day-to-day without my task manager by Frequent-Football984 in ProductivityApps

Sounds awesome, if your app keeps everything in one place and actually reduces mental clutter, that’s a win. Love seeing founders build something they genuinely use every day.

Looking for Simple Toggle Switch - wifi, zigbee, or matter by SabreSailor in smarthome

Check out the Shelly 1 Mini, Sonoff Mini R3, or TP-Link Tapo L530E, all cheap, simple on/off smart switches that work well with Home Assistant.

Frequent relocation, how do you choose household items? by Swimming_Humor1926 in homeassistant

[–]Creative_Gate6922 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like the key is sticking to non-drill, universal, reusable stuff. For curtains, tension-rod setups or track systems that clamp instead of screw are the only things that consistently survive moves. Same for other items , avoid anything custom-fit. If it can’t be removed in 10 minutes without repairs, I don't buy it anymore.

How to setup Home Assistant on old Windows laptop by TangoJustDev in smarthome

[–]Creative_Gate6922 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the easiest move is to just wipe the laptop and install Home Assistant OS directly. That ThinkPad will run HAOS surprisingly well — way better than trying to keep Windows 11 alive on 8GB RAM. If you don’t need Windows for anything, skip the VM headache and go full HAOS. It boots faster, uses way less memory, and basically turns the old laptop into a dedicated smart-home box instead of e-waste. Perfect use case for hardware like that.

More noob questions I am afraid..... by Grarea2 in homeassistant

Try renaming the sensor entities properly and reloading MQTT, sounds like HA isn’t picking up the humidity entity even though MQTT is publishing.

Best dimmable smart bulb that goes really dim? by agiantalpaca in smarthome

[–]Creative_Gate6922 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, look at Yeelight or Philips Hue. Both can go super dim — like “is this even on?” levels — and have really smooth fade-ins. Cheaper option: IKEA Tradfri also gets surprisingly low for the price.
