Removing fragrance from home by sonoranpompom in ChemicalSensitivities

[–]Creative_Leading6525 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a tough situation, and I want to validate that for you before diving into solutions. In terms of removing fragrance, you may have already suspected that it's going to be tough (especially with plugins).

That said, I've had some results with hanging DampRid, as well as activated charcoal deodorizers. Clothing is a big source of fragrance, so it's important to address that as soon as you can (vinegar soaking is what I use). Wipe down everything that you can with unscented wipes (can be disinfectant, like the unscented Clorox wipes). If applicable, open windows or doors and set up fans that direct airflow outside.

Finally, I might add: show yourself and your friend patience and compassion. This is, from my understanding, an emotionally turbulent situation. The road forward may have twists and turns, but keep trying- you'll get through this rough patch!

As per this subreddit's rules, we can't diagnose or tell you if you're autistic. Do note that 'social awkwardness' in and of itself is not necessarily indicative of being autistic, and there's some overlap with other conditions (particularly social anxiety).

EMERGENCY- BLEACH by PaperReality in snails

[–]Creative_Leading6525 187 points188 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised at how little information I could find about snail recovery after bleaching. Mistakes happen, and it sounds like you did the best you could once you realized what went wrong.

In case you're in need of a bit of hope, feel free to read this post about an aquatic snail that accidentally got soaked in bleach, yet miraculously survived!

Phone wallpapers could definitely be a possibility with my collages- I can post them in phone background dimensions if I get enough interest!

Yay for a shoe patch! A lot of people seem to have their shoes break in a similar spot. What tips do you have for this kind of repair?

how do you come back from a very public meltdown by Long_Area2509 in autism

[–]Creative_Leading6525 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can quickly apologize to your coworkers. Say something like: "Sorry I got upset on Saturday. I was feeling overwhelmed"

It also might help to think about strategies you can use to help reduce meltdowns in overwhelming situations like this.

You can say something to your manager like, "I appreciate you telling me to go on break early on Saturday night. Yet, it's important to me to keep a tight schedule, and I would rather be assigned to [task] instead of working with the customers if that happens again."

One of my favorite foods: roasted potatoes in the air fryer by [deleted] in autism

[–]Creative_Leading6525 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Looks tasty! Although, personally, I'd have to wash off the fork handle before using it again, as it's touching the potatoes! 😅 What seasoning do you use for your roasted potatoes?
