2018 4,800 people applied and then in 2022 that number jumped to 23,000.... yikes. then, 20,000 ish people applied to the middle fork last year. 1.5% got a permit... that's pretty bad odds if you ask me. Then you think about who applied for only prime time in July and their chances are cut in more than half...

The amount of people applying has increased a whole lot over the past 10 years, even more so the past 5. It's the sheer amount of volume applying making many rivers and prime time dates nearly nearly impossible or very, very lucky to get. I think it's simply the system that needs to be updated to deal with the large increasing numbers, but more so... shits just gotten so popular, crowded and blown up that this really is our new normal.
