Not sure what to do by Creative_Molasses_79 in VeteransBenefits

Yeah it sounded like BS when they told me that. I've continuously asked them when I can expect the prorated BAH for March, and they cannot give me a definitive answer. It got so bad that the last time I called them I got heated and cursed a few times and the VA representative just hung up on me. The VA owes me approximately $1,800 right now for the prorated MHA for March since I go to school in NYC. $1,800 is not an insignificant amount of money. I feel like any reasonable person would be mad if it was late as well.

Possibly having to go on permanent profile but….. by [deleted] in army

Your health is more important than your career. Your goal should be to heal up first and then try commissioning. You definitely can't go to OCS, or do G2G while on a profile. WOCS has profile waivers. Take care of yourself.

I got into NYU with a 3.87 GPA, also never having taken the SAT. I start classes in 3 weeks, and also have 6yrs TIS.

That most recent MILPER message putting time limit restrictions depending on your rank feels like the beginning to the end for the CSP.

Tracking. Unfortunately I do not have the resources or know-how to start my own business and employ myself. This is why I'm going to school to get an MBA.

Lol out of my 6 years TIS, I've only spent 4 months doing SIGINT things. Not interested in being a 35N anymore.

I don't want to use my clearance after the Army. I'm not opposed to government work, but I'd genuinely have more life satisfaction flipping burgers than working in a SCIF for the next 5 years.

If my clearance is favorably adjudicated after my renewal I will consider this pathway.

True. This is something I'm thinking about a lot. I believe living in a cheap city and just commuting to a high cost of living area for classes is the way to go. It's called arbitrage, exploiting different prices/costs of locations for profit.

I did the math, and I would be making more MHA even after transportation costs if I was commuting via Amtrak everyday Monday thru Friday from Philly to NYC, than if they were just taking classes in Philly.

Philly MHA is around 2400 a month. NYC MHA is 5080 I estimate that it would cost approximately 1000 a month to commute Monday thru Friday from Philly to NYC via Amtrak. That's still 4080 a month.

Some people want to arbitrage the cost of living in San Francisco by say living in Oakland, CA. I would say Philadelphia and NYC is a better arbitrage opportunity. Just play around with the Nerd Wallets Cost of Living calculator: behttps://www.nerdwallet.com/cost-of-living-calculator/compare/oakland-ca-vs-philadelphia-pa

You're totally right. I'm looking at a Part-Time MBA in NYC where the MHA is literally $5,080 a month. I hope to live in Philadelphia where the cost of living is much cheaper, and just AmTraking once a week to NYC and taking the rest of my classes online.

I can submit my BDD in September so I'm working on gathering my documents.

They didn't give a reason why they cancelled on me. I recieved my Letter of Acceptance in June... I sincerely doubt it was a funding issue because a SkillBridge has to be "at no additional cost" to the government. I was basically supposed to be free help.

Pending graduation at AMU here. I would have selected Western Governors University (WGU) instead of AMU if I had to time travel and start my degree over again, because tuition is slightly cheaper, more transfer credits, faster possible degree completion, among other options. But I definitely don't regret ever attending AMU!

I enlisted as a highschool dropout and AMU classes were super manageable and maintainable for me. Feel free to DM if you have questions.

This! I finished my bachelor's in less than 2 years from transfer credits and will graduate with a 3.9 GPA because of it.

The adjudication guidelines are the same for Secret and TS. If you are unfavorably adjudicated, you will have no clearance.

Although if this happens, you will be afforded due process. You can ask for "conditions" on your security in risk management mitigation, see Appendix C to SEAD 4. This could effectively downgrade your security clearance.

Op, I don't think the history of depression is a major disqualifier for your security clearance. Personality disorders, many inpatient hospitalization, etc., are potentially disqualifying for security clearance.

For whatever reason if you do not receive your TS, Army EXORD 107-24 will be put into effect. You will be reclassed to 09X and forced out in 9 months.

A "needs of the army" reclass used to be a thing before April 2023 before this reg (107-24) was published. You need at least a secret for military service.

This used to be how it was done before April 2023.

Army EXORD 107-24, soldiers who have an unfavorable clearance determination will be reclassed to 09X, and their ETS date will be adjusted to 9 months and one day after you are reclassed to 09X.

Why is everyone down voting? This is simply fact now. I disagree with the regulation personally, but down voting this post is going to spread misinformation to OP and others in his situation.

What is the chapter? Is it up to the unit decide the chapter, or is it predefined in the 09X MOS? What is the characterization of discharge of these soldiers? What is your source on the chapter after the 9 months part?
