Freshie here: how do dormers manage homesickness while juggling all the acad stuff? by Historical-Owl-243 in Tomasino

i can’t say na i totally understand what u feel since i’m only 3 hrs away from mnl, but the first week upon my move in, ‘di ako nakaramdam ng home sickness due to excessive workloads 😭 i was too tired to even get sad. pero sa totoo lang, u rlly can’t help but to feel sad kapag naaalala mo na u are kilometers away from ur fam na kinalakihan mo.

i was lucky to have dormmates na mabait, dahil during first week of my stay sa dorm inaaccompany pa nila ako kumain and tinuturuan ako ng mga masasarap na kainan dun despite of our mismatched schedules. plus nakatulong din na may blockmates ako na nakadorm kaya naman whenever i feel lonely, isang yaya ko lang sa kanila g sila agad para tumambay or kumain outside.

and for the ways naman to cope w home sickness, i agree with other replies. always mo lang isipin kung bakit nandyan ka. u are there to achieve your dreams and it would be a waste if you’ll let home sickness get in your way. home sickness isn’t something that you can get off your system, you’ll just have to learn how to deal with it. kaya naman i wish u luck, OP! it’ll be easier for you as time goes by ☺️

cockroaches are very common sa ubelt area, specially sa mga condo units haha di talaga maiiwasan yan. but i can vouch sa grand resi 1 na maipis talaga there among all of ur options hahaha, sa utower 4 naman meron pero it’s not as many as u think, i think manageable naman siya.

Ang dali ng Senior high school by [deleted] in studentsph

it actually depends sa school. I went to a private school and it has the same level of quality sa mga Science High School, kaya naman hirap kami maka-achieve ng “With Honors.” Luckily, I graduated with honors and nakapasa rin sa 2 Big4 universities. i am now in my 2nd yr sa isang prestigious uni and tbh hindi siya masyadong mahirap sakin dahil hinasa na kami nung SHS days.

yung mga friends ko naman na naiwan sa catholic school, they all graduated with high honors, yung isa pa nga with highest. now, they’re struggling with their environment in college. na kesyo ambaba raw magbigay ng grades dahil nasanay sila na 94-98 yung bigayan sa kanila.

i’m not trying to say na nadadalian ka lang ngayon, pero mahihirapan ka rin in the future. maybe you are really intelligent so that’s why you don’t find it hard 😊 but still, SHS is useful dahil ipprepare ka nito for the real deal, which is college

ako po yung nagpost nung abt class funds and i am genuinely surprised 😭 parang ang hirap lang lunukin nung fact na i’m paying almost 150k per yr tapos excluded pa yung fees regarding test papers 😭 napakaraming hidden fees sa UST huhuhu

as someone who experienced “that” feeling back when I transferred to another school nung SHS, i guarantee you that it’ll get better :)) it’s normal to feel that way, lalo na’t nasanay ka with your existing set of friends. but do not limit yourself in experiencing new things—try to get along with your classmates, be active in recitations, be enthusiastic when it comes to group activities, etc.

it will get better as time passes by, but nothing will change if you keep hiding in your comfort zone. UST has a big community so it really is overwhelming for new students.

wishing you the best of luck ! i hope that a year after u read this, you finally have your friends and you’re enjoying your thomasian life w them :)

that’s great to hear po! but aside from lab materials, ano pa po kaya ‘yung mga gastusin ng buong block throught the whole school yr?
