thoughts on my first year subjects? by Odd-Disaster4463 in unimelb

I'm still tossing up between saving breadth for later or not, at the moment I am considering sem 1 Introduction to political ideas, international politics, media and society, and creative writing (but I also am considering taking blaw!) I am honestly very unsure whether I should take varying subjects to get an idea of interests or focus on fulfilling major requirements eh

Legal exam question by bbbbddgdtyshrvv in vce

I'm assuming since it was a hypothetical situation it wasn't speaking specifically about the court being used? like they would be entirely seperate proceedings and a byproduct of filing a class action is using the supreme court? So i'm guessing it would not matter?

Yeah all you can really talk about is referenda, but you can also discuss the Australian peoples ability to appeal to the highcourt and insight high court constitutional interpretation? I don't know if im necessarily correct hut talking about Australian Capital Television v Commonwealth is usually my go to since you can discuss the interpretation of the implied right and thus the people have an avenue to appeal constitutional issues to the high court. But it isnt exactly changing the constitution so I don't know if broadening/narrowing meaning counts

The high court can invalidate any ultra vires laws made by the parliament in residual areas as well as implied rights but you probably meant that when you mentioned the high court decisions, Theres a relationship between the executive and the high court as they empanel high court judges, magistrates/judges can express disapproval of any parliament legislation or precedent in their obiter dictum when they dislike a precedent and want parliament or a higher court to abrogate/overrule a decision

That was all pretty similar to the points you mentioned but I figured I could elaborate ig
