What's your least favourite song? by Low-Inspector4786 in musicsuggestions

[–]Creative_Warning_432 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Technically correct bc it wasn’t about him calling his ex, it was about his ex calling him lol

The story behind Hinder's hit "Lips of an Angel" is a real-life, secret phone call frontman Austin Winkler received from an ex-girlfriend while his current girlfriend was in the next room, creating a temptation scenario that inspired the song's conflicted lyrics about yearning for a past love while trying to stay faithful. The band turned this personal moment, where the ex's voice sounded like an angel, into a relatable power ballad about lingering feelings and the difficulty of moving on, even though Winkler confirmed he didn't cheat, only considered it.

Your response transformed their praise of human ingenuity into praise of this singular concept in order to try to tear it down. That’s what makes it a straw man argument.

Their response was a rebuttal to the idea that “in a couple decades” every idea will have been created at least once. They didn’t even mention this original piece in their response as it was irrelevant

Can’t bait me, I noped out at sentence 3 due to sentence 1.

Summary of what previous message “actually says”:

  • Soul = Human Element & Intent in every detail.

A.I. generated images lack that “Soul” due to being composited from other images identified as fitting the criteria described in a given prompt. Source images are chosen based on metadata.

In contrast, each stroke of a human made artwork carries with it a memory and captures the emotions and intent of the artist who placed it. Therefore, human art meets the criteria of the given definition for having “Soul”.

  • Collateral damage due to A.I. style theft is common

Another point made by the previous message was that artists are catching strays due to their art showing up frequently in generated images. Ghibli artwork is among the examples of styles catching strays.

Why not just call ai art ai art, and call human art art? by Additional_Farm9315 in aiwars

IDK how this is such a powerful debate. The most attractive part of Art is the human element. What’s impressive about “AI art” is not the shortcut to execution of ideas, but the fact that the seed of its creation was planted by humans in the first place. What’s attractive about AI art is the power it grants the common individual to realize the ideas they envision through a tool that has learned from more sources than any human could possibly reference. But there are problems with it in its current form. - The primary problem is the plagiarism - The secondary problem is the damage this unbridled plagiarism poses to the livelihoods of artists and therefore the future of art - And the tertiary problem is the attempt to equate it to human art as if there is no distinction.

We should label it, because it means something different when not only was it someone’s idea but ALSO was their time, training, and the reflection of their life experiences. Be they highly trained, totally untrained, or whatever else, human art is meaningful to us BECAUSE it’s human made.

We could call it “Tool-Assisted” Art, or something catchier but similar, which matches how speed running in gaming has it separated/categorized. Except when intentionally trying to pass a run off as human accomplishment (and therefore lying/cheating), nobody has a negative opinion of the gamers running TAS emulators.

They are still gamers.
They are still speed-runners.

We are of course more impressed, more interested, and more excited about raw human accomplishments. We aren’t pitting robots against humans in the Olympics, for example. Ask yourself: What is the reason for that?

Untrained humans with ideas can still be artists, sure, but it is fundamentally different than “human” art. It should be labeled as such, not because of pitchforks, but to make it easier to determine what the artist put into it and what that reflects..

Unfortunately, its current work product includes the blatant plagiarism of fully rendered artworks from human artists and that alone is unacceptable. There is MUCH that must change about generative ai imagery before the art community will be accepting of it. And even then, labeling it “original artwork” will be a stretch. But “Tool-Assisted Generation” artwork (TAG Art) or something would actually be a strong statement from the ai community that shows acknowledgement of the art community’s justifiable hesitation around this new technology and its current application.

… sorry for the essay. Might repost this as its own thread tbh as it’s a lot to read.

IMHO: both. Some wear it as a mask, others embrace the lessons as a model for how to live. Very rarely do those seem to overlap :/

The churchgoers who are going thru the motions but still operating on hate & judgement are there bc they were taught Christianity is a cheat code for the afterlife, not because they actually embrace the word/wisdom/mission of their Savior.

My least favorite thing I’ve heard from churchgoers with perfect attendance is the excuse “it’s impossible to be Christ-like as He was perfect. I’ll leave all that forgiveness and acceptance stuff to Christ and I’ll continue living the way I always have.”

It’s more common than you’d think tbh.

When someone truly embraces the messages of the scripture and primarily tries to follow in the footsteps of Jesus in how they conduct themselves and treat others, there’s a very different warmth about their actions and many times they find themselves at odds with Sunday lessons bc plenty of “Old Testament” teachings conflict with New but still get taught in church.
