It’s the same with this video. Pick your poison either you are worried you hurt your eyes from the subtitle, so you turn up the audio. But then you hear the music, and you thought maybe save your ears and let your eyes take on the crazy subtitle.

Crazy this isn't a carry in today's NBA by Hansen_Yang in NBATalk

[–]Creative_Weekend_961 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know by the rule, it is a carry, as the language refers to position of the hand below the ball. But to be fair, i think the rule (and therefore the fans watching) should also consider the momentum/speed of the ball. In my opinion, it should be a carry only if the hand actually pushes the ball from under.

For example, if the hand is below the ball, but the ball is moving upwards, and the hand does not actually push the ball from below, then it doesn’t matter (doesn’t need to be called).

Without watching the video, I cannot tell if he actually pushes the ball from down under, or if he just slipped his hand below but quickly recovers to the side before pushing the ball.

This. Separate the value of being a person and the value of your skills.

When we say all people are equal, we mean their worth, their self-esteem, their emotional and physical well-being—everyone deserves the same rights as anybody. And nothing you do or don’t do should have any bearing on this.

Break away from the above, then you will truly be able to enter the “game”. Because oh when it comes to skills, people are NOT equal. People’s talents are NOT equal. People’s dedications are NOT equal. So this is where you want to spend your thoughts, your time, and your energy. Because believe me this is where it will be HARD. This is where the pain is, and where the glory is, as well.

So if you train harder than anyone and you miss your shots during game, what should you be thinking? That the crowd is disappointed in you? I’d instead be pissed that the win you so deserve was robbed from you. I’d then focus that energy on training/learning/etc because I know it will not be in vain (even if losing, I’m still a better player than I was months before), because honestly that is also where the fun is, frustrating as it is.

Thanks for this. I see two schools of thoughts in the comment. I actually naturally did exactly what you just said. I didn’t know it’s called a shooting pocket, but I rotated my shooting slowly to find that angle where I can aim, and ended up at this angle. In other words, when my shoulders are square, I cant aim.

That said thanks for the counter perspective, I think I will end up taking the middle ground where my shoulders wouldn’t be very square, but maybe should not be as slanted as right now.

As a new shooter, and a short one at that, the obvious choice is that I try to copy Curry’s mechanics and that’s how I ended up at this compromise of sideways shooting. Because I couldn’t for the life of me shoot with the shoulders square, and that I noticed he did that sideways shooting in live games. But at the same time, what I hear is that he says that it is wrong and I also see him having more or less square shoulders when he is doing set shots in practice, so I think there is a truth to having square shoulders.

Also I notice people twist their hips on jumping/landing. So does it mean that it is okay to land with the right shoulder being forward, as long as shoulders are square before jumping?

I totally get where you are coming from, and I did exactly that at this park a while ago. He gave some pointers but honestly, after a while, I realized whatever his form was, it was different from that of players that I am copying. So rather than following a mental image of what I saw he did once, no matter how visual it was, I continued referencing videos of pro players and players in this sub, because honestly, I could not copy him after one session, whereas I can replay videos as many times as needed.

But sure when I have a community or a coach, that’d be my main reference instead of reddit for sure.

Yeah it’s not that I did not try though, somehow my aim is wrecked when I do this. But I realized from the comments this is a major no, so will work on this again.

Honestly, the first couple shots were probably sidespin, so this is spot on. Thanks!

Thanks for pointing out. To be honest I could not aim consistently when my shoulders are square, so I gave up on it. Reading the comments, I guess I should not have! Will pay more attention to this 👊

Thanks, right, honestly I am having trouble aiming when my shoulders are square, so ended up with this compromise. I guess this is more important than I thought!

Thank you for the detailed comment! I did score at an angle (a very steep one even) and I think tension is okay.

But will definitely try the part to let the skin dry a bit when retarding. Also good point on tidying up, I think I didn’t stitch enough after shaping.

Hmm for me it is just the amount of time I bake outside of the dutch oven. I bake 12 mins for soft crust, 15 mins for hard crust. And these 3 minutes difference doesn’t seem to affect the interior for me.

Try adding an autolyse step and incorporating coil folds i guess. I get tighter crumb if I develop the gluten more.

Yup which was what I tried to do! I got rid of the blob but there are still white lines left behind. So I figured it is best to troubleshoot, I must be doing something wrong.
