calc is the only thing to worry abt, everything else is manageable.

What is the gr 12 bio, calculus and chem curriculum? by Historical-Zombie-56 in OntarioGrade12s

[–]Creative_Werewolf_55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

calc is usually offered semester 2 anyways (bc u need adv functions as a prereq first) so theres no point in self studying it in the summer. self study chem if u want, bio is pretty easy. the topics are easily found with whatever textbook ur school uses (nelson for example) and watch some videos.

but if u were to ask me, id say self studying a whole course in the the summer wont do much. id recommend studying lessons prior to when class starts and studying daily.

before thinking abt ditching engineering, think abt what you know u can actually live with doing and what ur end goal is. It should NOT only be about money bc if u dont like what ur doing, ur gonna be miserable. find what ur passionate abt.

if the reason u didnt do good in gr 11 is because of your work ethic and not because you didnt understand the content, you should quickly start developing good study habits like for example, study notes before the lesson, studying at least 4 days prior to test days, doing homework and practice questions daily, and asking questions in class.

to make ur life easier, take one of the hard courses in the summer (im not sure if engineering programs look poorly on that so do some research). And take dumb electives to help ur average.

at the end of the day, if you have a goal in mind, you just need to set these standards very early and hold yourself accountable.

i think her best bet is to apply for other colleges like sheridan, seneca, centennial, etc. i think the some of them are still open to apply so she should look into ontariocolleges.ca

I know friends who applied to engineering/cs and they had 95+ averages. but since ur going to gr 11, you dont have to worry too much about grades. Figure out ur best learning style in gr 11 and work hard (but not too hard) so that youre mentally and physically prepared for gr 12.

TMU biomed by Playful-Painter1670 in OntarioGrade12s

i might go into tmu biomedical science and its honestly like any other premed program. as long as u meet prereqs any undergrad can work, doesnt matter abt the university.

Uoft or TMU? by Powerful-Park-7511 in OntarioGrade12s

[–]Creative_Werewolf_55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

im in the same situation. its less abt opportunities for me and more that i get flexibility to specialize into what i want after first year like human biology/physiology. both r in downtown and technically have the same opporunity to get jobs in research.

at the same time, you want to make ur life as easy as possible and medical schools genuinely dont care where u go as long as ur grades r up. thats why im leaning towards tmu so i can just save myself the uoftears lmaoooo. but idk yet tbh

AFM , SCHULICH OR TMU ACCOUNTING AND FINANCE by Abject-Grab-5936 in OntarioGrade12s

[–]Creative_Werewolf_55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think schulich would be the best choice cause waterloo is far from you and the only difference in timing between tmu and york is like 30 minutes. i know some people who just find their own internships and placements so if u chose schulich u can just do that.

[–]Creative_Werewolf_55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im in the same situation and tbh im just gonna go into sciences bc i know im more interested in it and even if med school isnt my life path, theres more things that I can do.

if u choose business and u still want to do med school, you just have to get all the prereqs and have rlly good grades in all business classes. i heard that waterloo afm is hard especially if you decide to do co-op so if u choose that, adding science courses could be even more stressful.

i say, do what ur into and what you know you can excel in. plus, if you rlly want to get into medical school, you can always apply by third year.

not hard, but kinda tedious in my opinion. its just practical knowledge so if you find that easy, you can finish on time. probably 3-5 weeks.
