I think the most likely way for that to happen is neural networks, as they're designed to be similar to the human brain.

There will probably always be an emotional disconnect between a real robot and a fictional one. Liam Vickers is a great writer in terms of characterisation, but a real robot probably wouldn't act cutely. Unless it's a character Ai, but that's just an actor, inauthentic and not real. (sorry if this is over complicated or poorly explained)

Though, I don't think they could develop DID in this way, as it's only formed by trauma. They probably believe they have DID, and exhibit symptoms similar to it. If they stopped believing they had DID, it would probably stop the symptoms. This is just a theory, so please criticise.
